I am new to wargaming but have a lot of 54mm WW2 figures. I also have plenty of terrain, buildings, vehices etc. Any suggestions on good rules for this scale. Also any info on using I aint been shot mum for 54mm figures? Anything would help thank!

IABSM tends to use a lot of figures, so the table might be pretty crowded.

How many guys do you want to have on the table? A few guys? A squad? A platoon? A company or more?

The answer is going to be a different, depending on what scale you are looking at.

If you want to field about a platoon or so on each side, look at Chain of Command or Nuts. Both are excellent games with a big following, and they play really really well.
They also include vehicles and all the gadgets you'd expect.

Both games are pretty "clever" in the mechanics and take away some of the perfect control other games give you. Nuts is a little more man to man, while CoC is more squad based.

If you are looking for infantry skirmishing with campaign rules and character progression, I'll pimp my own game a bit

No vehicles yet, but if you want more of a "band of brothers" / RPG experience, I'd like to think it does a really good job.

In northern va. we run about 1 54mm WWII game a month--using a very simple rule set, almost no charts or paper. Games are small, on my 6X12.5 table ?50/60 men per side and 3 to 6 AFV is a big Battle, ---also need lots of Dice---Red D6, White D8, Blue D10
Green D12, Yellow D16{have to get these at the cons early} seems several groups on the east coast are using these rules ideas. and Black D20's---You Hit on 1's and suppress on 2's and 3's ---we have two yard sticks with the first 12 inches paintd red, next 12 White and so on,last 12,Blue, the next yardstick is painted Green, Yellow and Black---also on these yardsticks is the rates of fire per different type of weapons per action---under 12 inches roll red Dice--which are D6 --Hit on one--target has light cover go up to white Dice which are 8's.
We like these because they move. Lots of small decisions--which are resolved quickly.

Also in northern Virginia I run games using the King and Country figures. I use chain of command but found a set of rules that really was refreshing. The rules are called Normandy Firefight. You have about 5-6 figure per side. Combat is based on a percentage die roll and the position the attacker and defender are in has an impact. There is only one die roll made, but the results of the roll give you everything you need to know about how well your shot was. Cover is also important.

I have seen Rapid Fire used. I think you could use just about anything, including FOW, if that floats your boat.

There is a feller who goes by the handle of 'By John 54' on TMP. He games in 54mm and uses the Crossfire rules.

He has put on some truly spectacular games at the Salute show in London. Have a look at some pics……

Wow thank you! I was not expecting such a large response. All of these rule sets look interesting and I will read up on them. I think I will hold off on iabsm. Just due to space limitations I think platoon sized games would be ideal. I didn't realize there was such interest in 54mm scale. The pictures from salute are very impressive!

By the way weasel I followed the link to your game and it seems like it would be a good fit! I could defintely see myself buying the bundle this within the next few days.

Nuts is worth a look and operation squad – work well with my 1/35th scale ww2. Also Chain of command. Force on Force very good t0o. The latter two sets have unlimted range for rifles and many other weapons which just works well with our proper scale big soldiers.
