How cool would it be to be able to afford to use this stuff (called Vantablack) to make a gaming mat for space games: link Imagine a huge 4x8 table of this stuff! I'd flick some stars on it with a toothbrush (or an airbrushed galaxy or two) to give it more of a "deep" looking effect. I imagine that once you placed ship models on it they would look as though they were "floating" above the surface. You could even use it for fantasy gaming for bottomless pits, etc. What do you think? |

I wonder how mentally disturbing it would be to look into a large section of their pure nothingness? |

I think playing on a surface like that would start to freak a player out after a while because of the optical illusion it would cause. |

That would be neat, though I suspect it will be unaffordable to most gamers, sadly. Would love some myself, for space battles, and/or to serve as a black whole in space. |

When it gets cheap enough, I foresee somebody coming out with a clothing line for goths…. ;-) |
