Dave that was a very fun article as well, especially after having read the first one. The plate business is presented objectively, like nearly all the rest of the article. However, this closing line is really poor: "It makes you wonder what that bullet-headed old stag-murderer Franz Ferdinand might have made of it, had he had any imagination at all." Franz Ferdinand was actually an enlightened individual who was intelligent and cultivated. He was a champion of Slavic rights, and his assassination by Slavic nationalists was a very misguided tragedy. I live within 15 minutes of his favorite hunting lodge, and he is very well thought of in this area. In fact, he even has a brewery named after him! |
