Nice, you should do another one of him riding a pack mule loaded down with charts which is how supposedly he crossed the Alps in actuality. The two would make a cool contrast. Anyway, the figure looks awesome. |

Very cool! I had the pleasure of seeing David's painting when it (and other works for the Emperor) came to the Getty a few years ago. I had no idea how big it was. It's about 8.5 ft x 7.5 ft. It was as impressive as Napoleon no doubt wanted. |

Hello to all who've had a look and/or replied. Thanks for the kind words! @ Bernhard: I've often wondered if anyone did a figure of Boney astride a mule, i.e. the real as opposed to hagiographical scenario, and it turns out they do: link … and perhaps in the fullness of time I'll get that to! Mind you, propaganda or otherwise, I far prefer the heroic David's to most other pics of Boney, including (though it is very good) Delaroche's mule painting. |
