Is it possible to use the same scale for cavalry as infantry (1:20) for black powder? I always see 12 figs (in an older TMP topic up to 18 figs) but never bigger. Mine will be at least 24 but probably 32 (4 sq each of 8 figs).
Can this be used in BP?

Yes of course and good on you for doing this in the grand manner. You set the relative size and effectiveness of your units for the stats before the game. So if its a 'normal' sized regiment then simply point this out to your opponent and it fights with 7, 8 or 9 combat dice, (light or medium or heavy etc).

The foot print doesnt really matter either because measurements are made from the centre of the formation, and charges should attempt to cover off centre to centre…

Personally I also apply the 1:20 figure ratio, but having been in the service myself am always pessimistic about field strengths or actual 'runners' on the day so stick to 18s for non elite units…

My 18s have never had any problems working with or fighting the 12s of my mates.

i do squadrons of 4. the average regiment is 16 figures but Russian light cavalry still come in at 32 figures .

mind you i deploy them in units of 2 squadrons(8 figures).

Dials were from the Dial dude, who unfortunately has long been out of business…

Sure – why not? I use regiments of 12 but that's just because I hate painting horses- they look better with 24 (just like infantry look better with 48)

I do as Crucible Orc, units at 1/33 , but I do like the movement trays and your basing. Wonder why you don't single base a few riders for casualty removing (better than those awfull markers-clitter), wich you apparently do for your infantry.

Black Powder doesn't have casualty removal – its modelled at a greater, more holistic level of play. The markers represent loss of stamina rather than casualties. Thats not to say there are better ways of recording them, some of the guys have dials that are 'camouflaged' to blend into the table…
