Here are my second section of commandos, light kit and cap comforters

picture
I've enjoyed doing these and I've had a bit of a trip down memory lane for one of them (anyone who owned the Airfix commandos will spot him straight away) I only had eight metal heads so I greenstuffed the other two. I really didn't feel that my style of painting suited the metal heads

so i've almost done my box of commandos, just five more to go! I'm thinking sniper, mortar and maybe a piat team to finish up the box.

So thanks for looking
Cheers for now Russ

Russ
They are outstanding

Great looking guys. I sure wish my Germans could get a crack at them. As I'm rather ignorant about these particular figures I'll ask… How many are conversions?

Some of those cap-comforters appear to be side to side (like the Brownies)rather than the more common foe and aft style. Are they cast like that?.

Whoa Mohamed thank you for kind comments

Robby I didn't really have to do much at all conversion wise, the guy with the grappling hook I removed the grenade from his right hand slotted it for the rope, which is made from a strand of picture hanging wire which is twisted together to form the rope, the grappling hook is stiffer brass wire bent into shape and a second piece cut and stuck to it to create the third arm, pretty much like a treble hook for fishing. Other than that slight arm alterations only. Almost straight from the box apart from two cap comforters that I was short.

JARROVIAN, the caps are as they came apart from the two I made out if greenstuff. The guy pointing is one and the other is the guy stood firing! I'm keen on the heads to be honest but that could just be me.

So as always thanks for looking
Cheers for now Russ

I like the idea for rope. I use the same kind of wire for barbed wire for my 15mm games. A bit labor intensive, but the results are worth it. Plus the stuff is very inexpensive. I played a game not so long ago where the host was using 54mm figures. He had grappling hooks as part of the game. He used the fishing hooks you mention with the barbed points cut off. Still managed to stab my thumb with one.

Robby I'd thought of using a treble fish hook but I couldn't find a small enough one, and to be honest I kind of enjoyed the challenge.

Jarrovian it should read I'm not keen on the heads! They just don't seem quite right! and they where a nightmare to paint compared to the other metal heads I've painted from warlord, but maybe its just me.
