All - Once more we are getting a bit crazy and GOING TO BERLIN! In a super-charged repeat of our 2009 Historicon spectacular, the SkirmishCampaigns gang will be doing two HUGE bomber scenarios (over 100 1/300 B-17s each) both taking place as part of Mission 250, the first bombing raid on Berlin, 6 March 1944. This will definitely be the largest air game we have ever run. Please come join us (there are plenty of aircraft) or just enjoy the entertainment of the pre-mission briefings and trash-talking banter! The first scenario, TARGET BERLIN takes place at a little past 1200 when elements of the 1st Bomb Division (1st and 94th Combat Wings), escorted by P-51Bs of the 357th and 354th FG (target support) engage a large German battlegroup from ZG.26 with Top Cover provided by JG.3. The second scenario GET HOME takes place about 1450 hours where elements of the 1st Bomb Division (13th and 45th Combat Wings [including 388 BG with Lt. Monty Givens), are returning from Berlin and are escorted by P-47s of the 361st FG (withdrawal support) engage a large German force from JG.11 The sessions are SATURDAY S-221 and S-222 (1200 – 1600) and S-223 and S-224 (1800 – 2200) in Ballroom E Hope to see you there! When you say, "Mission 250, the first bombing raid on Berlin, 6 March 1944", you appear to be forgetting: (i) the first raid by the French on Berlin on 7 June 1940; (ii) the first raid by the RAF on Berlin on 25 August 1940; and (iii) the first raid by the Soviets on Berlin on 8 August 1941. Perhaps you mean the first raid on Berlin by the United States Army Air Corps. |

22nd Foot, In the effort to be completely historically correct, you are surely referencing the US Army Air Forces (USAAF). The change from "air corps" to "air forces" happened in June '41. Cheers

Viper, fair enough; thanks for the correction. The original point, however, stands. |

Come on guys – Hollywood teaches WW2 was the US of A versus the nasty Japs and evil Nazis – all in the SS and equipped with the latest and bestest weapons the Germans ever had…. Seriously I knew what the OP meant and I knew [and am sure they knew] there were other earlier raids on Berlin [though I didn't know the Soviets attacked in 1941]. In fairness it's a slip but quite right to correct it. |

100 1/300th B-17s on the table! I'd like to see photos of that Which manufacturer did you get them from Scott – Scotia? Would be great to see an AAR as well. Have a great day. |

Sounds like fun. Would love to see some pics, if you care to share, since Historicon is still being held on the wrong coast, for my non-existent travel budget. |

At least 54 of the bombers were from I-94 Enterprises. These are the ones that I own. I believe that most of the bombers were from I-94. Phil |

Well, I'd sure love to be there, but money is a bit tight at the moment. I'll settle for pictures…lots and lots of pictures :D |

I think the final count was 105 B-17s (though we had some B-24 fill in for B-17s in the last few flights). I think high 80s B-17s made it back. They beat off the first attack pretty well going in, but were mauled by the Butcher Birds in the second game as the escort was drawn off allowing 7 FW190s to slip in unmolested. |

I heard 105 in the post-games count-up of points. It sure looked good. Props to all the organizers! |
