can anyone explain why the Constitution class – Enterprise mini is so small – it is way tinier than the early Romulan Bird of Prey & the Klingon D-7 – it seems from TOS that the Enterprise was much larger than the Bird of Prey and roughly the same length as the D-7 – what gives? |

I think it is because later Feddie ships are so massive that to maintain relative scaling they made the Constitution class tiny. With the Klingons the Bird of Prey and basic Klingon cruiser don't change much in size between TOS and TNG. |

dsfrank The originl Enterprise from the original series is about the same lenth as the engibe on a 1701D from the Next Gen: it "really" is that small and the one in the set is about right. The rest of the ships – Kingons especially – got bigger and smaller to suit different episodes on the TV show and even the films: dramatic licence, sadly. We are too used to seeing the likes of MicroMachines 'fit the box' scale models… John T |
