Hey guys, so question for the day, is it plausible to magnetize a metal mecha figure and have the limbs not sag? I'm thinking something along Battletech scale (Maybe a 45mm tall humanoid mecha). Trying to see if something will work before I get to invested and screw it up. |

Magnetise the central point of the joint but put a pin around the circumference. Plug the arm over the pin and let the magnet do its work… no sag. |

The pin may be a problem. I am asking as I want to cast mecha with the limbs set up for magnets and include them with the kit. I doubt a pin hole on the mold is gonna last. |

Unless I'm mistaken, a simple "square peg, square hole, with small holes in both for magnets" setup might work. Although it would mean that you'd have mostly fixed poses. Hexagonal pegs would be better for posing, but would be more likely to have the corners round off over time (and thus become droopy). |
