If you were going to build a 28mm force/army based on the Israeli mercenaries from the book "The Texas-Israeli War", what would be your figure source(s)?

Thanks,

Laser armed Centurions. It does not get much better than that. I've wondered why no-one has ever thought about this. Toyed with the idea in my head a couple times.

I've got a roughed out Centurion setting on my table right now. I've been kind of debating whether to simply scratch-built three of them, or make molds and cast them. I think I'll finish the first one and then consider how many molds and how complex they will be, before arriving at a final decision.

Just re-read the book last month on a flight to…Texas.

The authors swapped Centurions with Chieftains. The descriptions are for the other.

Besides, Saladins and WWII tanks, and a MBT-70. What more can you want.

Did someone say Laser-armed Centurions?

The base is a (I assume an old Aurora) 1/48 Centurion with the addition of obvious GW leftovers from other projects.

And here's a shot of this one and a couple of its pals, all painted up (the lead has an Imperial autocannon instead of the lasers of its two companions).

Now, this particular bunch was made for a not-40K force, so to make it more Texas/Israeli War, you'd just not add the sponsons.

I loved that book as a kid. I didn't realise anyone else remembered it.

Sorry for not having anything else to add. The Mongoose Starship Troopers are nice near-future infantry though.

In a similar vein, anyone tried gaming based off the Texas trilogy from Daniel da Cruz (Ayes of Texas, Texas on the rocks, Texas Triumphant)? A silly series, but I can never think of the Texas-Israeli War without it coming to mind, since I read them close to one another.

Thanks, I appreciate everyone's replies.

Inventedregiment, I forgot about having those Starship Trooper figs, I probably won't use them for the ground pounders, but think that I can use them as the base of the vehicle crew conversions. Thanks for mentioning that.

Chief, I'm curious about the other "Texas" books mentioned. I'll have to look into them. Thanks for that as well.
