Inspired by Barry Hilton's philosophy of telling small stories by basing his miniatures in semi-vignette style, I've completed this first of a series of forward skirmish line units – or perhaps last standing defenders, for my 1870 Franco-Prussian project. Figures are from the excellent Gringo40s Maximillian range. More pictures on the blog: blackpowdergames.blogspot.se |

Very well done Chanzy; I like that idea. For 1870 skirmish, what rules are you thinking about using or do use. I was looking at Brother Against Brother, with some modifications to the firing and loading rules. Thanks Joe |

Wow, absolutely beautiful work, Chanzy, and excellent blog as well! I have those same Gring40s for use in Mexico -- especially at Camerone -- but you have done a fine job repurposing them. Thanks for posting! |

Thank you all very much for your kind comments! @Joep123: I'll have to check out those rules you mention. I'm planning to use the unit with the Black Powder rules, fielding it as a skirmish unit with reduced HTH, stamina and shooting value, but adding the Sharpshooters rule due to the Chasseurs, and with increased range of the breach loading rifles, to illustrate the Chassepot effect. |

Hi Chanzy; Another set of rules I'm thinking about using for small scale FPW action is "All the Kings Men". Check them out too. Joe |

Will do Joe, Thanks! Seems they are also adopted for ACW games, might work really well with FPW if one takes the new weaponry into account. |
