…all the TMPers got together one day and played a massive game, what period would it be? Which rules would we use? who would be umpire? And more importantly who would survive the day?

They wouldn't be able to agree on scale, rule system or any number of trivia. It would be fun to watch the argument phases during the games.

Based purely on popularity of products brought up on TMP recently…
Totally unscientific survey, based on my admittedly limited interests.

AWI Battle of Brandywine, with all the new plastics. (None by me, I might add, but I might slip in my Perry Ferguson's Rifles.)
I guess it would be British Grenadier or Black Powder.
I could not ump, since I am not at all well versed in either rules, but would happily play.
We would all survive, because 18th C gamers are universally gentlemen, and would NEVER take a shot at opposing commanders. It's just not done!

Scale is not an issue.

The 54mm guys command the skirmishers
28mm guys- the main line of battle
15mm- the second line
10mm- the reserves
6mm- Supporting corps moving to the sound of the guns
3mm- Grouchy

Happy Little Trees for the win

We used to do an annual game where we agreed on the scale and everyone brought all their troops in that scale. Since we only played a few sets of rules in those days it was easy to figure out what rules, make modifiers (sort of on the fly) for things like the effect of heavy machine guns on hoplites, and play for about two days.

It was called Keinplatz Day. I'll let our German speakers work that one out…

Oh, and sometimes there was beer involved.

Based on the number of sub forums the message boards has, no one would even find the right room where the game takes place!

Ummm

How do you all know that TMP Isn't the forum where this game is being planned?

The Battle of Waterloo…with modern weapons, vehicles and aircraft.

One thing is certain – the old school guys will have the edge.

Lead minis make MUCH better projectile weapons than plastic or resin!

14Bore10 Jul 2014 2:33 p.m. PST

Imagine a game where scale wasn't important, just the base area, and rules of many types, maybe one side using one and the opposition another.

Everyone brings one gunslinger and we have a chat in the morning.with some early knockout gunfights
At high noon we have food a beer and carry on the gun fights til we have a winner.
Models can be any scale just use same rules for range , hitting etc..

Last Hussar10 Jul 2014 5:38 p.m. PST

The period should be one where colonels raised and equipped their own regiments.

There is a set points per player. You buy and paint your men up to that points limit – your choice of composition.

Imagine the game where you have just ONE unit per player.

"Advance"
"Looks dangerous – I don't my unit to rout in the first hour…"

6mm space marines versus 28mm Nazi's and 15mm Napelonic French.

Played using Tractics.

Would there be separate tables for folks in the dawg house?
