link I must admit that I am one of those he told to off, but I do like his reply. Not to say that I do not want him to hurry up

:p I still say Robert Jordan to him :p Flip the bird all his like, but how happy will he be if his magnum opus is finished by someone else :p |

how happy will he be if his magnum opus is finished by someone else I don't know about happy, but I can guarantee it won't be on his mind. |

Given that he is much inspired by the Wars of the Roses, he would do well to remember that that conflict took only thirty years to conclude. Ron |

C S Forrester never finished the Trafalgar Hornblower book. G M Fraser never wrote the Flashman ACW book, among any others. And some " fans " have tried their hands at some wretched pastiches of Flashy. I would hate to see ASIOF degenerate into fanfic. |

What a charming man. Truly the epitome of grace and wit. |

If he dies before it ends – so what ? It'll still get completed one way or another – there's too much money involved not to. So someone else will finish it off, it won't be what GRRM intended but why would he care at that point ? And why should he, at 65, enjoy having his death discussed as seemingly imminent ? Yeah, he's over weight and bearded so looks older – but he could also easily live another 10 or 20 years. |

Patrick O'Brian wrapped up Aubrey and Maturin in a rather hasty manner. Doug |

Nice "American Eagle" George! He sort of flipped it half old school half modern…I guess so that all of his fans could understand. I don't necessarily agree with the vulgarity but I completely understand his feelings on the matter. Let the ghouls wait. |

In other words, "No, I don't plan to finish this. I'll die suddenly without completing anything of note, just like most of my characters." I would hate to see ASIOF degenerate into fanfic. It already has. |

On the other hand, looking at the Wheel of Time as an example, I think it (sadly) benefitted from having a fresh writer come into it, and follow the outline set up by the original author. When Brandon Sanderson took over from Robert Jordan, the main events didn't change from what Jordan had planned, but reading the last three books it felt like a much fresher take on old characters. The dialog got better, the pacing improved, and even though it STILL took three books, they were books I enjoyed again rather than feeling like I was doing History homework. |

It just hit me how easy it is to solve this issue to everyone's satisfaction. Boycott GRRM appearances. Don't attend Mr. Martin's signings. Skip conventions where he is the guest. When he is on radio or TV, change the channel. When you see a link to a GRRM story, don't click it. Think about it. GRRM has said he only works at home, so when he is traveling to appearances, he isn't working. If everyone boycotts his appearances, his bookings will go down, and he will be at home more. And work more. So go proactive. Stop complaining! Boycott GRRM! |

I like the long unfinished series. LOVE the short story 'The Hedge Knight'. The man? Don't like him much. Intimate penetrations upon thee as well, pilgrim. |

I didn't get past page 80 of the first book. Mr.Martin (who quite patiently argued with me at a con once) can take as long as he wants. |

I dropped out after the last book, series is defintiely going downhill. Double fingers right back at ya George! |

Just look at him he is a heart attack just waiting to happen. Odds on him finishing the last two books. Slim to None and it is far closer to None. |
