Now that we are approaching the 100 year anniversary what is on your want list.

Late war Austrians.

Austrians and Russians in 15mm

just Dave09 Jul 2014 11:37 a.m. PST

I am thinking more like Rommel in Italy, Great war mountain troops.

Broglie09 Jul 2014 11:38 a.m. PST

Peter Pig does both Austrians and Russians in 15mm

Ryan T09 Jul 2014 12:08 p.m. PST

The big missing figures are any mid to late war British, French or American troops equipped with rifle-grenades, preferably in a firing pose. If one games at a small tactical level rifle-grenades should play an important part in your units' composition.

Minifig also does Austrians and Russians.

Early War cyclists of almost any nation and engineers. All armies had them but nobody makes them in my chosen scale of 10mm.

Pendraken has rifle grenadiers for most of the main nations.

10mm bicycles would be great.

For engineers I have used Pendraken's Franco-Prussian war chaps, who have bare heads and pick and shovel.

idontbelieveit09 Jul 2014 2:24 p.m. PST

28mm Germans in greatcoats for start of 1916 (covered pickelhaubes, and same with the spike removed)

28mm French in improvised winter clothes for the start of 1916.

Right on Ryan Toews. And thanks Martin Goddard! 15mm mid to late war--metal helmets. Brits, Germans, esp. The only current manufacturer is minifigs 15mm Brit kneeling firing; one pose.

Ryan T09 Jul 2014 5:45 p.m. PST

The Pig comes through, thank you Martin Goddard.

I really like both the 28s and 10s listed above and could be talked into either range, but all my terrain is 15 mm and I can't quite convince myself to duplicate it in another scale.

Naavies: particularly African. Lascar & Chinese.

Martin Rapier09 Jul 2014 11:16 p.m. PST

Judging by the number of people who play East Africa and Middle East, we seem to have managed OK so far.

As mentioned above, more support/Pioneer types are always handy, along with more figures actually riding bicycles, although loose bikes are a good start.

Austrians! Early war (1914-1915) cavalry, plus Hungarian and Bosnian infantry in 25mm and/or 15mm.

Bushy Run Battlefield10 Jul 2014 7:43 a.m. PST

HH Munro.

Jacques10 Jul 2014 9:22 a.m. PST

A bigger variety of early war Austrians & Russians in 25/28mm.

And of course Bulgarians, Serbs and Montenegrans.

Light Horseman Supporting Member of TMP10 Jul 2014 9:22 a.m. PST

I echo the need in 15mm – 18mm (hint, hint, Blue Moon) to make sure that all the basic weapons, to include rifle grenades, are represented for each army for use in skirmish level play.

Roderick Robertson Fezian10 Jul 2014 9:27 a.m. PST

28mm late-war Americans that can be used for between-the-wars. No backpacks or gasmasks.

tinshed10 Jul 2014 10:53 a.m. PST

I'm working on 28mm pilot's and plane's infact there is already a limited addition 28mm Sopwith camel done now and only by request from 1st Corps miniatures. This was done as a proof of concept, and is only a two part resin kit, with a metal prop, and metal pilot.

dualer10 Jul 2014 12:24 p.m. PST

I'd like to see 28mm work parties, the guys who went out at night laying and repairing barbed wire defences. Possibly the unsung heroes on all sides in WW1.

Wargamer Blue11 Jul 2014 3:56 a.m. PST

Peter Pig everything for the Middle East

Johny Boy12 Jul 2014 11:02 p.m. PST

Another vote for 15mm East Africa and Middle East, both areas woefully under supported in 15mm hint hint ;-). Agree with 15mm cyclists for all sides. And yes Austrian cavalry on 15mm would be great

N Drury16 Jul 2014 1:18 p.m. PST

Does anyone make German 21cm howitzer in 15mm yet? Or the earlier British 5" and 6" pieces. French late war artillery and the 75mm are available but the many older weapons that made up a sizeable proportion of the French artillery seem hard to find in any scale. Does anyone make a 155mm Rimailho howitzer or any of the De Bange series?

Adam from Lancashire19 Jul 2014 5:32 a.m. PST

My dream range would be Paul Hicks sculpted 28mm later war Belgians. There are now several 1914 ranges, but nothing for later on (as far as I know). A floppy-haired American corporal with chubby, bespectacled sidekick would be a bonus:

That, or Brigade Games doing helmeted versions of their lovely Italians and Austrians, with gas mask cases and the like, for later in the war.

Dropship Horizon26 Jul 2014 3:45 a.m. PST

If i was in Martins place at Peter Pig I would want to plan my WW1 to maximise sales (its a business after all) whilst still producing packs of figures that were fun and appealed to gamers.

I'd start with East Africa. Probably with Von Lettows guys first as only a small number of types needed and can be characterful. This would encourage gamers to buy in and provide feedback on other troop types required or refine future plan. Then its British and Indian troops plus Kings African Rifles. That may encourage sales of that little launch in the Sudan range…..'African Queen' and all that.

At this point I have the ability to do a side range of Jazz Age Darkest African pulp which can be expanded gradually, pack of Explorers/Adventurers, some female types and a couple of chosen tribal packs including chiefs and witch doctors…. King Solomans mines etc….appealling to Colonial and Pulp gamers who may not want to do WW1.

With the British and Indians underway that's a good starting point for Middle East….as they can be reused there. Turks next, then some ANZACs including speciality packs for Gallipoli.

Add Highlanders and Gurkhas to the British and I now have an opportunity for Jazz Age North West Frontier (3rd Afghan War/Warizistan) with the appropriate hill Tribe packs. And again another pulp opportunity with the odd character pack.

I'd see what the feedback was regarding Arab revolt figures and would create these with my eye on a future small range of 1920s Foreign Legion.

So with a core of British and Indian troops plus some Pulp extras I can appeal to WW1, Colonial and Pulp gamers whilst providing the opportunity to play different theatres without having to buy two whole new armies.

Or, I could just do a pack of French Poilus releasing pigeons from a basket.

Cheers
Mark

In 28mm

An advancing mid/late war German MG08/15 gunner firing from the waist with an assault sling and snail drum magazine. The standing Old Glory figure firing the MG08/15 from the shoulder is all wrong.

More prone figures!!!!!

Also, does anyone make
[ a ] any bomber figures with crossed over-the-shoulder canvas pouches containing extra grenades?
[ b ] any German 1916 Somme front jaegers with Madsen automatic rifles?

Does anyone make a British limbered wagon in 15mm or 10mm? A very common item on the Western Front

Johny Boy14 Aug 2014 2:10 p.m. PST

I'd use the Pendraken German Supply wagon from their 10mm WW2 range GR35 if memory serves me right, I'm doing this on my phone so cannot post a link. However it looks generic enough to do the business.
