I've been doing some research on the Late Song army and the early Ming army. I'm having a hard time getting good information on the early Ming (1360-1425). Anyone has some suggestions about where to look. I have the relevant Osprey volumes (which not surprisingly are barely adequate.)

I am interested about aspects of military dress and organization that carried forward in the century between the two and the differences that developed over this time as well. Thanks for any help.

Unfortunately many of the sources I've read is in written vernacular/classical Chinese.

The 中國軍事通史 series is a good start.

I will be happy to assist you in researching this topic though it might take a few days for me to digest the information.

I am curious about that, too, but in the other direction, in case some 15mm Ming figures could be converted into Song, to complement Essex's seemingly Greer-inspired "Sung".

Thanks Wansui. Any assistance would be much appreciated.

I'm going to be on a flight and the place I'm staying doesn't seem to have good internet, however if it does I'll be sure to post what I read.
