"At Eurosatory 2014, ST Kinetics of Singapore unveils its new Bronco New-Gen All-Terrain tracked armoured vehicle. The new Bronco New-Gen combines the outstanding mobility of the lighter Bronco with the proven high survivability of the heavier Warthog. The Bronco New-Gen is the newest iteration of the battle proven Bronco All Terrain Tracked Carrier, and provides high protection and mobility with increased internal space but lower all up weight. The Bronco New-Gen's V-shaped front and rear cabin hulls are designed to be stiffer and lighter with greater spaciousness to accommodate various crew and equipment configurations. Its rear cabin is designed to be modular and can be quickly interchanged for a wide spectrum of missions. As the lightest vehicle in the family, the Bronco New-Gen offers growth potential in payload and protection to survive a multitude of IEDs and landmines. With a lower curb weight than the Warthog, the Bronco New-Gen can take on higher add-on protection and payloads. Being lighter, it is capable of swimming and traversing water obstacles effortlessly at higher STANAG level protection. With a completely re-engineered chassis to maximize the crew's operating space, it has the largest capacity in the Bronco family, accommodating crew and passengers of different body sizes comfortably, giving superior MMI and protection

Well, that's not your father's Bronco (Bronco being the name of a Ford SUV). Rob |

Evidently not, skippy. I guess it's just one with a v-hull for IEDs. |

BV-206s are long-gone now. They were replaced by BvS-10 Vikings (an improved and armoured development of Bv-206) around 2002ish. However, Viking proved inadequate against IEDs, so the MoD bought a load of Warthogs (British name for Bronco) from a company in Singapore. Warthog looks VERY similar to Viking, but has much thicker armour, a v-shaped hull and seats suspended from the ceiling. It's apparently VERY good at protecting the occupants. Vikings are still in use alongside Warthog. |
