Hey. Marking destroyed/burning vehicles is easy. Out comes the cotton and we're good. What about lesser damage? (I am looking for solution in 15 and 20 mm models.) For AFVs with damage to their propulsion or suspension systems?
How about damaged gun sights or traversing/elevating mechanisms? Running out of ammo? For mobility damage, I use a small chit with track and wheels bits.
I haven't come up with anything for weapons damage
. A little, tiny box shape for being out of ammo. I also use a small, green button for AFVs that are buttoned up.
What do you guys use? Regards, Michael in Cloverdale. |

We use little beads that have letters on them. The kind people buy for making name bracelets. I for Immobilized G for Gun Destroyed A for Ammo etc For unbuttoned we use commander figures with a pin that fit into a hole in the top hatch. |

Used a small wisp of black sprayed cotton wool placed on track or turret etc, then a big huge ball of it for destroyed |

In 15mm, Peter Pig makes a couple sets of mechanics. Put 2-3 of them to appear to be working together and a small base of unique shape (say, thin rectangle or triangle), park at the side of the tank. The reason for a unique shape is so that you can easily tell the difference between the "busted track" marker and your regular infantry stands (or bailed-out vehicle crew). |

Thanks guys. leidang – Yeah, I've seen that done. It gets the job done but I'm looking for something
a little more visually interesting. I am not super happy with the button thing but its intuitive and "simplsy" (simple, easy). After a couple of day of letting my subconscious chew on this, I think I may have something for damaged firepower. The first batch of markers are drying as we speak and I will post pictures tomorrow. Lion in the Stars – Yes, I was thinking that I might use one marker to denote damaged mobility (can still move but slowed) and two to mark complete loss of mobility. The same with weapons damage markers

OK, here are my damaged optics markers. Materials
Size
How they look
I'm very happy with these even though they only convey damage to the gun sights. I can't think of anything for turret traverse or gun elevation yet but then I might be over thinking this…. I will just use this for all weapons damage. I thinking of re-basing the mobility damage markers. The same black base under the wheel and track components would be easier to pick up and provide a better contrast to the table top colour.. They would be more durable and be consistent marker symbology…. I haven't decided yet about whether I should dress the bases to match my playing surface or leave them black.. What do you guys think of the compromise between blending in and conveying the information… Michael in Cloverdale. |
