On average how many points are people playing in Games of Bolt Action? I plan to pick up that rules and perhaps start running some scenarios to test out the system. I realize this could be one of those how long is a piece of string type questions.

The group I game with tend to max out at 1000pts. New players with few figures favor 500pt. lists. The new armor plt. rules are going to recommend 1500pts. per player.
1000pts. is usually plenty enough to get all the squads and support weapons one could reasonably wish.

At my club, Angus Wargames Club, in Scotland, 1000pts is quite sufficient to generate a good game.

1000 points is the "sweet spot" for a standard game. Game is fun at 500 with fewer toys, and anything over 1000 is usually for games with more armor. 1000 is a good amount for a platoon plus support, such as artillery, or a tank.

Thanks guys good to know. Not only am I considering getting the rules and playing as well as running games but I might start buying and painting ups forces to sell. It is that or start painting up SAGA warbands. Somehow I have to find a way to support my war game habit. grin

we do 1000, but there are some guys who run 1250

Our tournaments are at 500 points and that produces a good game for about 90 minutes worth of play.

Usually about 1000 to 1250 but I have played larger games with more armour at 2000 which worked well. Should be noted though that we are using individually based 15mm, in 28mm I'd imagine the table would end up very crowded.
