Howdie.

Just a write up about the first 2 days of a new Cold War naval campaign…

… a test for later campaigns.

Thanks!

Awesome! The double-blind seems to be working quite well. Will you type up your campaign system at any point for other TMPers?

Chalfant08 Jul 2014 12:54 p.m. PST

Probably, have to give it a few more goes, and work out some bugs. Probably would go up on my blog.

Sounds like fun.

Apparently, both NATO and Russia have sortied quite a few vessels in the Black Sea, so that might be useful for future battles.

Also, "24" has a good scenario for a Chinese attack on Okinawa, following an unexpected attack on one of their units, so is worth a look as well.

Jack Bauer…. more powerful than a speeding YJ-8… more deadly than a Tomahawk… more… well, you get the idea.

Neat – thanks for the info!

I should break out my 1:6000 scale ships and whip up a scenario. What are the dimensions of your map grid (in squares), and how far do ships move, at cruising speed, per turn?

Chalfant09 Jul 2014 3:43 a.m. PST

SO far, 10x10, with combat surface vessels moving 3 spaces. No true scale at this time, just working out the mechanics.

Thanks Chal, that sounds very doable. I'll have to try it! If each turn is 1 day, then at 3 squares per day, that's 8 hours to travel each square; at 15 knots, that would make each square 120nm across, if my arithmetic is correct. So the battle area is 1200nm on each side. Not bad!
