Renaissance Miniatures have launched their new kickstarter project:

They have previously produced a fantastic set of East Asian terrain (which we supplied figures for) and now Steve and Renee are producing terrain and ships suitable for 28mm Pirate and Wild West games.

We will be supplying the gun barrels for the ships this time.

They look to be off to a very good start and the large ship they are producing looks amazing…

Some nice stuff…I wonder how they did the water…..

LostPict08 Jul 2014 4:58 a.m. PST

They did the water using gloss Mod Podge over paint.

I am in hook, line, & sinker.

The Quay set is tempting to use for terrain for the Corsair faction in Relic Knights!

What is the clearance height and width for standing figures under the pier archways?

LostPict09 Jul 2014 5:40 a.m. PST

Not sure exactly, but for scale reference the little staircase immediately next to it is about an inch tall and those are 25mm pirates near the stern of the frigate that look like they could easily fit under one of the arches.

I bought into their Asian Kickstarter in a big way. The buildings are very nice and sturdy. In fact the Junk kit was so nice and these look so nice, I think I am going to sell my resin pirate vessels once these arrive. Here is a link to their store (they just put the Medieval Village stuff on the webstore and apparently will add the Asian Village soon): link

Folks may want to drop in on this Kickstarter to see the breadth of vessels they have in the works. So far the very large HMS Surprise (24" long deck & 24 guns), a medium sized Port Ship "La Décision" (19" long deck & 12 guns) and a bevy of smaller ships including a pair of Barca-longas (La Belle and the La Bete – 12.5" long deck & 10 guns), the slightly larger HMS Drake 3-masted Bermuda rig (10 guns), and a Barca-longa ghost ship called the Poseidon's Revenge. Also lots of other terrain stuff.

I am backer for this KS, but in all other respects the usual disclaimers apply.
