No real surprise. Give it 10 or 15 years, and someone else will probably decide that invading Afghanistan is a good idea, with identical results. |

Or massive shale gas deposits will be discovered in their valleys, and someone like China, Russia and/or Iran will decide they like the place better without any people in it

Strongholds should = massive targets
of course the collateral damage would be horrific
It would be interesting if China and/or Iran "invaded" the region

Based on what we see going on today
