I started playing x-wing shortly after its release but due to time constraints and lack of interest from pals I only played a handful of games. I recently have renewed interest and notice there's quite a lot of additional craft available.

Any suggestions on what what really adds to the game…I did buy the Millenium Falcon but haven't tried it out yet…

Apologies I posted this on Reports :(

If you are into scenario play rather than tournament play, the new huge ships are fun. Although I am still waiting for mine to come in the mail, the Tie Defender seems to be a must have. There have been a lot of good builds based around teh Imperial shuttle, but I just cant get with it because of its lack of mobility. For me, the Tie bomber is also a let down, I almost never take it out of teh garage. Regular ol' ties, tie advanced, and tie interceptors are still where it's at man. If you play Rebel scum.. well, I can't help you.

If your'e not into tournament play, get what looks fun/cool to you. I try to buy one each of the huge ships and at least a few of the small ships. If your'e just looking for fun games, it's nice to have a nice combination of different ship types to try out.

The Z-95 Headhunter is probably the most game-changing thing the Rebels have gotten. Very cost effective fighter, and excellent for supporting higher quality craft.

On the Imperial side, the new Phantom and Defender both open up a lot of new maneuvering options, but they do cost a lot. Cloaking tricks and a white K-turn are understandably expensive.

As far as the Rebels go…

I love the A-Wigs. They are fun to fly and really give the uber-maneuverable Imperials a run for their money. Plus they look boss. The B-Wing is a true tank and is a pig to fly but ends up being a lot of fun to use because of the ordinance you can load onto it.

The Falcon adds a lot of character to any game it's in. Imperials generally hate it because it's really hard to take it down.

The huge ships are fun in a scenario game. However, they do tend to dominate play. You also spend a lot of time trying to avoid bumping them or being rammed (and destroyed), and you lose something of those swirling dogfights where--in my view, at least--the game is at the best.

As a result, I think that a variety of small (and large) ships produce more possibilities for interesting games than the same amount spent on one huge ship.

Heck, even if you are into tournament play — get teh ships that are fun/cool to you! There's a huge variety of fully competitive squads that can be built around most any combo. And bringing a squad that's not the current popular favorite that everyone else is bringing to a tournament is actually a big advantage.

Two B Wings and two X Wings won that last world championship…. First time a Rebel contingent won the whole thing. The Headhunter appears good. Don't overlook the Y Wing as it has shields and lots of hull points; one tough cookie but less maneuverable. Have yet to try the A Wing or the E Wing. Next wave has two interesting ships that remind me of the Millennium Falcon.

Tie Fighters and variants are tough since they can barrel roll and zip around so well. The Slave 1 is a nasty, nasty ship :-)

I have all the fighter ships released to date and have forgone the transports due to wanting just fighter to fighter actions.

Go online to Fantasyflightgames.com , they have lots of information and battle reports/tactics articles.
