Great War Spearhead is as Tgunner said, 1 stand is a company and you really are commanding at least a division and often more. A division would normally have 36 to 48 infantry stands, supported by 4 to 16 mgs, 6 to 9 artillery as well as 1 to 4 cavalry and engineers. Later war would include trench mortars as well amongst other bits and pieces of course. Shawn |

Shawn, will these scenarios work for the 1st ed of GWS? |
Vimy Ridge | 06 Jul 2014 4:15 p.m. PST |
Yes they will Rob, GWSH and GWSH II play almost identical, just that II is now stand alone so you don't need Spearhead to play it. Shawn |

Looking forward to this too, and getting into it with the new 3mm WWI line from Oddzial Osmy (hopefully some infantry come out this summer!). |

There is a third scenario book underway as well. It covers the major battles between the German First & Second Armies and the French Fifth, Sixth and Ninth Armies plus the BEF in the First Battle of the Marne. Details to follow. Robert |

Yes you can Kyote, as long as the basing is all the same there things are not overly difficult, the one area you may need to modify is the artillery template too be more suited to those bases. |

An FoW base would now represent a company. This isn't a problem in itself. I use Crossfire bases as companies in GWSH. The width of FoW bases will make it harder to compress forces together. For the upcoming scenarios this won't matter as the terrain is rolling and there is considerable room for manoeuvre. A few battles will be very hard to represent though. Neuve Chapelle is an example, from March 1915. Not a big deal though. Robert |

Duncan you can find the first book – Marching to War here: lulu.com/spotlight/GWSHII The Marne book is nearing completion and the third book has been changed up because of some very good source documents. This will mean the East Front will look like this: Austria's Guns of August – Serbia and Galicia East Prussia – Gummbinen and Tannenberg The Austrian book is proving to have some very interesting scenarios and covers a lot combat not well known by many. There is a lot more cooking on the back burners as well, we have not forgotten 1915 and follow on years. But there is only so much one can do at a time. Shawn |
