Can anyone recommend a high-quality manufacturer of 28mm WWII terrain – buildings, roads, etc.? I think that I prefer resin cast instead of laser cut mdf (but could be convinced otherwise). Would like to use for playing Bolt Action or CofC. So a few buildings for a village section or farm houses might be nice. Am looking for Western Europe theatre right now, but can see moving into Russian theatre down the road. I would also prefer to order in US but will order from Europe if no US choices are available. I already own some Total Battle buildings for 15mm and am aware of their quality. I really appreciate your help – several of you have helped me get into the 28mm action for WWII and now I have to empty the wallet on terrain

For high quality buildings I recommend Crescent Root Studio. Their Series 3, 28mm buildings (MDF) are the best on the market. |

At conventions, I sell a lot of 4ground for use in 28mm skirmish WW2 games. A wide selection and I sell a lot of the house ruins as they are very versitale. If you can get it, Pegasus has some good ruins and sand bags as well as trees. Other companies like Warlord, Perry and others have a few pieces but not as extensive as 4ground. Nelson Time Portal. |

I second Crescent Root Studio. I Love Them. The people who sell it and their products. |

Have you looked at the Rapid Ruin Building photo's. The model is going through tool trials and will be on sale soon.
The building can be complete or
it can be a ruin. The model is made of plastic and is easy to modify. More details soon on Valiant Miniatures website. |

See this posting for some fantastic 4Ground laser cut MDF buildings used in a Bolt Action game in which I played. Well worth the money in my opinion. link Look at the middle game – Bolt Action – for the buildings. Just about all of the buildings on the table were laser cut MDF, except for the church in the center and the ruins in the lower left corner of the first picture. Jim |

Crescent Root Studios is a USA company out of Tucson, AZ. These come painted and can be disassembled to store flat. link The value is very good and the ease of assembly makes them a much better set up than 4Ground buildings. I also think that they have a better 3D look to them than the other laser cut buildings. Matthew |

Miniature Building Authority (MBA) is hard to beat when it comes to variety and has great service. By far most of my buildings are from them: link Warlord has a ruined hamlet: link and a nice set of stone walls: link in plastic. If you're a decent modeler, Precision Model Design offers a variety of resin buildings/terrain: link Roads used to be hard to find, but I recently bought these: auction from Ebay and am very satisfied. The roads are 4" wide which is wide enough for any tank in 1/56, or even 1/48 for that matter. BTW I stay away from MDF myself because I don't like their "drawn on" look, but it's totally up to you. |

The one draw back on MBA buildings is that they are heavy. I fell the same way about most MDF laser cut buildings, that they seem so flat. It is one of the reasons I like the Crescent Root buildings. They are MDF, yet they have a really nice 3D look to them. They are light, they are less than others, they do not require any glue and may be disassembled to flat pack for storage. Matthew |

Having seen the CR buildings I have to say they're not bad. I may have to re-evaluate my aversion to MDF now. |
