Yes, they are nice.

Is there documentation for the axe that first Neanderthal is brandishing?

These are nice but in the High price range, not EE prices but still high.
On the other hand you don't need hundreds of them for pulp gaming.
Cheers and happy gaming

Really nice minis!

Is there documentation for the axe that first Neanderthal is brandishing?
Not that I'm aware of, but maybe he picked it up from a vanquished Cro-Magnon.

Love these figs by Steve. Nice to see the first of what I hope is many of a Cro=Magnon range.

Love to see some female/youngadults/camp fire set along with tribe elder.

Yes, there is documentation for Neanderthals using hand axes during the Mousterian period, which are quite similar in form to the one sculpted by Steve Saleh. The way in which the Neanderthals may have hafted the axe-head remains speculative as we only have the flint blades. The Lucid Eye Neanderthals are fantastic – I hope he adds some females, kids and perhaps an elder/shaman. Also hope this Cro-Magnon chief is the first of many more

Hand axes, yes, I knew about those. No evidence of hafting yet.

I would presume that if they were able to attach spearheads to shafts it would not be a huge reach for Neanderthals to do the same with a hand-axe. Just received my Cro-magnoin chief and Neanderthals pack II from North Star and they look brilliant – these will be a lot of fun to paint up :D
