Hi All

1000 apologies if this has been asked before …

Does anyone know of any rules which are specific to the ST Universe and cover BOTH the TOS and TNG eras?

Also could you recommend a non Attack Wing series of miniatures which are scaled to game in this "Universe"?

Are they both still in production?

Are any available in the UK, or cheap to import?

Sorry for so many questions, just wanted to ask those who are in the know, as I'm as newbie to this but love ST :)

Cheers, Steve

No longer in production, but about as close a match [as you'll find] to your question would be FASA's Starship Tactical Combat Simulator, part of the Star Trek Role Playing Game.

The TNG stuff was in expansions, but the movie ships were also stat-ted up.

Still available, often for not too dear.

Thanks Doug

I'll check out ebay and other sites.

Do you, or anyone else, play under separate rule-sets then?

I like the ADB miniatures, having seen them on Youtube. Is there a similar game / miniatures to Klingon Attack for TNG?

:)

You could take a look at Red Wyvern Game's Engage!

Has the spirit of TNG and the movie era even if not an actual Trek game.

There are some very competitively priced "inspired by…" miniatures available from Irregular Miniatures under their 6mm range – crude, but they often paint up OK.

I suggest you go to Starship Combat News and post your questions on their message boards. Those fellows would know if what you seek is available. I am not an expert on TOS/TNG miniatures. Shapeways, Studio Bergstrom, or Irregular Miniatures may have some. Best ships I know are the Wizkids Tactics and Attack Wing miniatures. You may have to go with those. There are also a couple in the Micro Machine lines.

Thanks captainquirk and Allen57, I'll check those all out

It'll keep me out of mischief … and the wife and kids happy :)

Studio Bergstrom's Irrational Designs are my favorite ST ships. Not accurate by any stretch of the imagination. But very cool (at least to my eye).

Those pics are stunning! Will definitely go with the Engage rules suggested by captainquirk ….

Oooo … I can feel a chat with the financial advisor looming … :)

I use the ADB ships, amongst many other ranges, in my Full Thrust fleets. See my blog link for some example ship templates. If you want more, you can email me.

I still use the best looking Star Trek minis ever made the ones that FASA did I call them the GHQ of Star Trek ships.

I think I have around 200 or so FASA Star Trek ships including some that FASA never got around to making like the Brenton Durrett Anton just to name a few.

I also have a small number of Star Trek ships which aren't FASA.

I still use the FASA rules and using the Star Trek ship be they FASA or not with the StarBlazers rules so not too bad.

Hi tmason / Captain Gideon

I've been looking at the FASA miniatures, and have acquired a set of the rules to look at. Takes me back to school days; only this time I can afford them :)

tmason – I really like the FT templates that you've put together, my old man and some of the club still wargame and play FT so we'd be able to match up using the minis. Could you send me a PM or your email?

Cheers, Steve :)

Googling 'full thrust star trek site:theminiaturespage.com' will get you a fair percentage of SSD's associated with AAR's and the like.

Dropping the site restriction will do the same, but you can do surprisingly well just off here, thanks to Messers Klein and Fisher, for instance.

Shapeways is a good resource.

I have been collecting some of the AMT/round2 1:2500 model kits for my upcoming Star Trek project. they are decent kits, not gw quality but are quite nice. best of all, they are cheap. my FLGS had the "TOS set" which includes one Enterprise, one D7 and 1 romulan bird of prey for $12 USD!!! even though the BOP is a little big for my tastes, thats $6 USD for a ship. they are about 5 ish inches long. the BOP is serviceable but I will be getting some micro machines ones.
they also have the K7 station.
they have a decent selection of TNG stuff, including DS9, but is much less suited for this pursuit.

another avenue to go, TOS again, is the starling 2500 series from amarillo design

as for rules, any generic set will work, but I will be using Engage I think, although I have opened a thread looking for options.
