I was just thinking how incongruous it is to be reading about unfortunate pickets dying of exposure in Rable's Fredericksburg! Fredericksburg! while gazing out over the Pacific on our mid-Winter break in tropical north Queensland. I assume, however, that other TMPers can offer examples of much more incongruous locations for reading and gaming experiences.

Anyone?

I have noticed that I have a tendency to read more about Viking raiders from the chill northern lands during the warm continental summers, while reading about Greeks from the sun drenched Med while the winter winds howl outside.

Now that you mention it, I have a recollection of reading about the retreat from Moscow one day when it was 45 celsius outside. Gotta love air conditioning in those circumstances.

Air conditioning for the mind.
