I know that since the first half of the 17th Century, the Russian Czars were beggining to replace the traditional Levy of the Nobles with german-style cavalry. However, the feudal cavalry seems to have existed up to the reforms of Peter the Great. Does anyone knows how common was the use of armor by these feudal cavalrymen during the 17th Century? Also, would some feudal cavalrymen wear imported western armor?

IIRC, traditional Medieval style armour was worn by the noble cavalry into the 1630's or 1640's.

Don't ask me for sources. I found this stuff on the net about 7 years ago when I was into the era and region.

Nobles were wearing armour in 17th century, but mostly Russian style. There're some parade portraits of generals from end of 17th-beginning of 18th century, showing western style armour – however some of them were foreigners anyway.
