Did US troops or NVA/VC troops use man-carried flamethrowers? Also, did NVA use howitzers or just mortars for artillery support against the U.S. (as opposed to when the US left and the war became briefly "conventional").

The Marine base at Khe San was shelled by NVA artllery- howitzers et all.
Mortars and rockets seem to have been the norm in the Republic – mostly because they could be easily moved/transported in comparison to 'gun artillery'……..not sure if it was encountered in the attacks against NVA 'sanctuaries' in Cambodia and the border regions……. Flamethrowers not sure about the NVA but I'm sure I've seen footage of ARVN engineers using them…….( maybe it was ROK units?) |

I seem to remember reading Operation Buffalo by Keith Nolan and Marines mentioned that the NVA used flamethrowers. Of course I could be channeling someone else's memories Jim |

Here's a newspaper report of the Viet Cong using flamethrowers against the ARVN. link Also, the VC used flamethrowers to massacre civilians at Dak Son. |
