From yesterday:

How about checking whether you might be repeating recent, previous threads?

Well I didn't see it yesterday so I'm glad it is here today or I'd have missed it.

I didn't see it either – chill out a bit. It is not the worst crime in history to double post something.

Tango0104 Jul 2014 10:35 a.m. PST

Glad you enjoyed it boys.
We can live with that. (smile).

I too would have missed this if Armand hadn't posted it.

people who get Bleeped texty over whether a topic has been posted twice really to re-evaluate their priorities….makes me chuckle.

Skeptic05 Jul 2014 3:44 p.m. PST

@a-man: It was simply a friendly reminder to an infamously prolific poster, one whom I have neither stifled nor ignored, that he may want to check sometimes before posting (typically about others' work or products). And it is not just this instance of duplication, but a long-standing pattern of it. As for priorities, I have given him the benefit of the doubt, but some behaviour does make me wonder…

Skeptic, is that a plank I see protruding from your eye? Seriously, the irony of your last sentence is of Biblical proportions…evil grin

Armand/Tango01 is like the last call at the bar. He catches more of us who for whatever reason would have otherwise missed a new product announcement than not, so I would dare assert that Armand/Tango01 performs a valuable service to this little community of ours and simply doesn't deserve the flak and nonsense some seem at times compulsively driven to throw his way at the drop of a hat.

I found the tone of your comment frankly unnecessarily blunt and even rude for a "friendly reminder," but chalked that up to the weakness of Internet forum communication and didn't take it personally (and neither apparently does Armand).

Priorities are like facts in that they can be difficult things. My priorities are increasingly of a professional orientation, with decreasing spare time to sift through scores of TMP news announcements about topics I have little or no interest in. Armand/Tango01 therefore acts as a handy filter system for me, as he posts his finds on the sub boards that I frequent when I do have the time to step back from my professional world for a short respite and have some little bit of fun.

Armand/Tango01 is like an eager personal assistant/junior analyst whose job is to sift through the daily torrent of information and news and ensure that their superior has a focused selection of information waiting on their desk when they arrive each day at their office, saving their boss the precious time of having to try and unsnarl the relevant information from the unnecessary distractions in addition to everything else they themselves are expected to do. I give Armand/Tango01 his due as such, and frankly surprised that there remain a vocal minority that simply refuse to see the Forrest to spite the Tango01 trees on this simple point.

Because I have not yet stifled or ignored him, I cannot help but see Tango's posts, so am constantly reminded about his fervour in posting, regardless of priorities. grin

I agree that Tango does find some interesting and useful information, yet find it a shame that his compulsive posting has caused him to be stifled and ignored by so many members.

If Tango were to focus or tone it down a bit, he might find a wider audience. Anyway, he seems to be set in his ways, and unwilling to heed feedback, so I will try to refrain from commenting anymore.

Skeptic,

"set in his ways?" Frankly, who among us is not to one degree or another?evil grin

Those who stifle Tango01/Armand always remind me of the old American culinary wisdom, "Don't like it? Good! More for the rest of us!"evil grin
