Rebel Mike and JBR have gone in together on a joint venture.

We call it Rebel Minis Digital Direct.

We are opening a Shapeways store to bring custom, one-off, and unique miniatures and bits that otherwise would not be available through normal channels. 6mm, 15mm, and 28mm bits will be available, and we might even experiment with 3mm. Feedback is welcome.

Looks like a great idea, can see this being the future of wargaming. What material do you recommend parts are printed in?

John Bear Ross03 Jul 2014 7:47 a.m. PST

The highest resolution material on Shapeways are the Detail Plastics. They are also the spendiest.

We have hollowed and sprued things to suit Shapeways's pricing structure, to minimize material use, and thus, cost.

Price is a factor, though, so we also offer the Strong and Flexible plastics as an option. Detail is not as crisp on this feature, though, so it's a balancing act.

Best,
JBR

Make 3mm scifi and I will be on it as often as paychecks allow.

I'll post this on Tactical Command ! Nice stuff ! thumbs up

John Bear Ross03 Jul 2014 8:01 a.m. PST

I need to rework the 6mm Merka files, since they are low-rez compared to my current settings. 3mm will be an easy rescale, as well.

I'll put up Merka 5 platoon and company packs soonest.

JBR

Neat! Excited to see how this develops.

John Bear Ross03 Jul 2014 9:17 a.m. PST

We're open to suggestions, as well.

Bundle packs, rescales, chopped-up offerings of existing minis, etc.

Best,
JBR

Great stuff… already a nice selection!

Are the SST cougar and grizzlies or the female cap troopers part of your stable? I know the skinnies and several bugs are Rebel's catalog.

John Bear Ross03 Jul 2014 11:36 a.m. PST

@Harold: Danke. I'll PM shortly.

@Privateer: Mike can answer that. I'm just the digital monkey. ;)

JBR

Thank you.

I see cougars, grizzlies and female cap troopers listed on Rebel's ebay site. Didn't know if those were Mike's personal sell-off or if Rebel had also gotten rights/molds for them like the bugs.

Mooseworks803 Jul 2014 1:19 p.m. PST

Nice!

Brother Jim04 Jul 2014 6:55 p.m. PST

Can someone tell me what the name of Rebel's ebay store is?

Thanks, I seem to be having epically bad search-fu today.

I don't know if putting a link up is against board rules, but just letting me know what to search for would be appreciated.

@Privateer4hire-We have the Grizzlies and the Cougar molds and rights when we bought our Mongoose. Most of the stuff on Ebay is the left over-stock, castings from that deal. There was alot but as you can guess, alot of stuff was missing.

I have sent Jason the castings we have for the Grizzlies and Cougars for paint.. so I hope to have them in the store in August(?). I'll also be sending John a set to build new goodies for them :)

The Female cap troopers are on thier way to be modified so we don't mess with orignal IP. The MI, I just got back and they are going to molds next week.

Slow going, but we are trying :)
