The new All Quiet on the Martian Front miniatures from Architects of War ( architectsofwar.com ) have tremendous modeling potential. I've built a few tripods in fighting condition and now I decided to build a few who have lost out to the pesky humans. The first one is shown below. This was amazingly simple to do and only took a couple of hours. The base was actually more work than ‘destroying' the tripod. I used my Dremel to make the holes and gouges and to drill out the spots in the arms and legs where I wanted bundles of wires protruding. I replaced one of the tentacles with a piece of .070 bass guitar string. Then it was a matter of breaking the pieces to make them lie in the fashion I wanted. The plastic is really responsive to this sort if abuse :) Give it a try! It's a lot easier than it looks.
And yes! I'll be putting a light in the next one! |

fantastic modeling job there. One small critique, it looks too clean to have died in battle. Perhaps some scorch marks, or darkening of the holes would lend more realism to an already well done model. |

I think it needs to be laying its head in a nasty pool of viscous fluid, like the used cooking oil from a McDonald's restaurant dumpster, a little smoke, and a crow pecking its eyeball. Wecome to earth. |

That is a work of art. I second the compliment on the added details. |

" like the used cooking oil from a McDonald's restaurant dumpster" My nomination for Most Graphic Description of Terrain Additions, 2014. And as all have said, very damn nice work.
