Just spotted on Peter Pig's website that they have set up a satellite distribution point at a florists a mile from Bovington tank museum.

Basically you make your order through Peter Pig's webcart in advance and pick it up from the florists (with a 10% discount for doing so – it says that this is a thank you for saving on postage costs).

'Killing two birds with one stone' seems such a great idea to me. Are we going to see more of this kind of thing in the future?

Interesting mix of product lines – 'would you like petunias or panzers?'

Reminds me of the shop sign a friend spotted in North Queensland – chainsaw repairs and ballroom dancing lessons!

Nice idea but may not be very workable as a business model.

What does the flower shop get? Just the extra traffic?

It might work with a related business (hobby or craft shop for example, or a comic book store).

I'm guessing the flower shop owner is a friend, and it doesn't cost them anything….

If I were the florist, I would be advertising apology flowers to wargamers: "Yes, darling, I got some figures but I also bought you these flowers." Alternatively, buying an arrangement for your partner could be used as a cover for smuggling more figures into your house, especially if the florist can provide a means of disguising the figures too.

Works well in a country like England, but the US has just a wee bit more territory to cover! wink Besides, many game stores already offer to order the figures for you and you pick them up at the shop. A local Model RR store even used to do that for me.

hmm lets see …

Honey I just drove fifty five miles with you and the kids to drool over some tanks.

I have just had five great hours wandering around touching and climbing inside tanks.

I know … on the way back home … I am just going to nip into this florists here…

Look at these flowers I picked up for you,

(don't look at the big parcel I am smuggling into the boot… )

If I were on a vacation trip from the USA, and of course I am visiting the tank museum, you better believe I would take them up on this offer.

Not sure how many of us Americans or other gaming tourists there are, however …

Now if they could get it to the florist here in my area, ;)

Florists wire is also useful for 15mm spears so there's an extra line for them. Bonsai for realistic terrain?

I remember buying some Hinchliffe stuff at a flower shop called Jacquelyn's Jardin in Cumbernauld near Glasgow in 1974.
They were under the counter…
