Does anyone know of a wargame that the Fort Apache Play Set and figures can be used for ? |

Since it represents a timber construction, one could use it for french indian war. In the plains setting one could use it in a fort fetterman setting. |

Pony Wars rules may work, if you can find a copy. Watch out for Dando and the white buffalo! |

I wouldn't "play" with it if its in good condition. The Marx set goes for $100. USD With box and inserts, $200. USD Go buy a cheap-o set of cowboys indians at Hobby Lobby. BTW Marx is highly collected. I collect Marx Disney items. But foolish people "play" with valuable collectors items every day, so do as you please. |

If I still had my Marx stuff I would be playing with it too. I think I would have 200 bucks worth of fun in no time at all, and the rest is pure gravy Who could resist? |

But foolish people "play" with valuable collectors items every day, so do as you please. I hate that attitude. I used to work with a guy who bought his son Hess truck every Christmas, but would not let him play with them. He kept them in a closet and brainwashed his son into thinking that he was better off investing than playing with trucks. |

I "foolishly" play with collectables all the time (Marx etc). What's the point having them if all they are good for is looking at through the package window? Drove a guy nuts when I bought 4 Matchbox HUMMVs in the package and told him I was gonna paint them. You should have seen his face! Probably should have left my Napoeonettes in their blister packs all those years ago I guess As to the OP: you can use any set of Wild West/shootout or Indian Wars rules out there. I made up my own. |

First thing I did when I got a bunch of Crossley Tenders for my IRA game was throw the boxes away. Geez, I must have paid $5 USD for them! And $100 USD does not smack of "collectible" value. You can pay twice that much for an unpainted resin fort half the size. |

You could definitely sell the fort to me and I'd be GLAD to use it in my 54mm AWI/FIW games. :) |

Thanks for the input guys. I was looking for the name of a war game on the market that I could use. Thanks for the info on Pony Wars. I will check it out. Life is too short to leave even collectables on the shelves,I think they should be enjoyed. Just my opinion after 21 years of service. |

IMHO, Maybe that guy who bought his kid toys for "investment purposes" should've bought 2 copies and give the kid one to play with. |

An un-played with toy is very sad
.indeed. I put on wargames at a local toy soldier show because when my daughter was 4, a lady standing behind one of the tables snapped at her, "Don't touch anything!" So, long story short, I let kids play with my toy soldiers at the show because there are so many people convinced that "their" toys are too valuable to be played with
..And my 5 year old niece loves playing with my carry-all Viking Knights playset :) |

They are toys, play with them. Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer when to the Island of Lost Toys to free those toys who never got played with. I have plenty of collectable toys, as soon as they get home they are out of the package and I play with them. Mike Bunkermeister Creek Bunker Talk blog |

A few years ago there ws a re-issue of the Fort Apache that was sold in Toys R Us. You can find them on Ebay pretty cheap. Same molds that Marx used. Look here to see the different variations of the Fort. The "Stand Alone" blockhouse is an outstanding piece for F&I War/AWI. So is the "Blockhouse over the Gate" link Just the fort alone does not command a high price. Millions and millions of these survived and are available at flea markets and so on. I found two partials last week at my local flea market.
I've collected Marx playsets and figures since 1961, when I got my first Blue and Gray set (which I still have). I set them up all the time and enjoy them. Otherwise what fun are they? I've got a couple of extras of these, if anyone wants one contact me via PM. |

link Feel free to use my home brewed rules. I used my Marx Stockade in this game a lot. 54mm on 3" bases and D6 based. |

My older brothers painted all of the figures in our Prince Valiant and Ben Hur sets. Not to worry, most of the it came off in the sandbox. |
