I'm looking for a set of ACW rules that work similar to Shako II. I want to do ACW using Baccus 6mm. Don't care for his rules though. Any suggestions?

You might try Rank & File by Crusader Games? Regimental Fire & Fury is a great low level game but isn't quite a Shako parallel.

Why not use Shako II?

We have a great set (home made and very good) based on the old SPI board game, 1 stand = 1 company or 60 men in smaller companies. If you want a set let use know.
There is extras included as I have read the drill manual and load of books on CSA artillery.

If you want big battles that are reasonably detailed, but don't take 14 hours to play, try On to Richmond. Available here:

This is a reprint by Mark Severin of the classic rules by Paul Koch. While the rules are not without issues, they are fast, easy to learn, and usable with any scale. IMO they give a good period feel without being bogged down with overly detailed rules.

I'm working on a Cedar Mountain scenario using these rules now and reading the description of the battle in "Lee's Lieutenants". While play testing, I was struck by how the game seems to play just like the book reads. I like that!

Across a Deadly Field is getting some very positive reviews; it is the latest effort of John Hill, of Johnny Reb 1-3 fame. link Units are two stands in size and the game is designed for relatively fast play of large battles. The scales is not attractive to me, but the rules writer has a solid track record, people I know and respect are excited about how the game plays, and it would look best in 6mm. It will also be -new- and may have a bit more enthusiasm and opportunity for pick up games in the near future. Conflicting reports about release dates, but it is coming soon.

I would recommend Johnny Reb III, but I don't think they will work so well with Baccus 6mm figs unless you do "representation en mass".
