Balsa Birds and Pencil Sharpener Vehicles! In my continuing quest to save as much as possible on non-figure purchases, I created these. The airplanes began as a $10.00 USD Balsa Grab Bag, and about 6 hours work produced the 3 craft pictured. The vehicles are pencil sharpeners that cost $3.50 USD each. They just required paint and some cargo to hide the sharpeners. As with the boats I showed previously, these are strictly gaming suitable models, I make no claim as to accuracy. Why not, it worked out great. Much food for thought there as balsa is plentiful and easy to shape. I will shamelessly plagiarize! |

Nick, I love the stuff you are creating. Good to see some sanity in a world where terrain can run into hundreds of dollars and every figure has to be a masterpiece. Game On! |

Got any identification on those pencil sharpeners? From Ebay, or somewhere else? |

Roderick, Here is where I get them - link Allen, It never ceases to amaze me how gamers are willing to spend insane prices on model kits instead of looking for alternatives. |

Nice gaming models. I can see how on the two simpler planes you shaped the fuselages etc. On the light blue one with the enclosed cabin, that was more work. Did you cut out the cockpit, place the figures inside, then frame with strip wood? And are the side windows cut outs or paint? Nice work either way. |

All done the simplest ways possible. Just paint for the windows, and just a slight indentation cur out for a cockpit. You give me too much credit. |

Groovy, thanks for the link! |
