So I've been trying top organize my mountain of lead,
and I keep coming up with odd and end stuff. A few figs here a handful there…
ex. 4 20mm lead ACW figs, 2 foundry Russian Napoleonic figs, a couple of WWI 25mm figs from Irregular, 2 old citadel horses etc.
So what do you guys do with them?

I sold a game that I cut out of an old Panzerfaust magazine one eBay many years ago.
I took great pains to detail its faults, missing pieces, coffee stains, etc.
I started the bid at $.99 USD but with enough shipping charges to make sure that it would not put me out.
I did it as a joke and it sold for $75. USD

Advertise it on TMP first, under the title of "junk I found" before you try eBay though. No fees on TMP. grin

Just give it away….maybe somebody is looking for just 4 20mm ACW figures.
When I have stuff I'm not using I usually pass it on to somebody who can use it….makes for good karma :)

I stick them in the spares box.

The spares box has got bigger over the years, in fact it's now spares boxes….

Cold Steel28 Jun 2014 7:41 a.m. PST

Try here for trade value for things you want
Ebay us always interesting. You never now just how much someone wants something.
Does your LFGS have a trade forum? You can try there as well.

First of all take them down to my local club and offer them for sale if no takers sell them on various forums. Avoid ebay like the plague for all the seller charges.

Ya – I have a spares box for that kind of thing. Those nut & bolt organizer things are handy for this kind of thing.

BTW – what are the Russian Napoleonic figs?

I convert them into something else.

Give them away to fellow wargamers that have similar enough armies.

They might use them for bystanders, vignettes, conversions, …

Thanks guys,
I'm going to take a few photos
and post the pics.
And make a large reasonable
'what I could use' in exchange list'
Thanks
Mike

I tend to dump mine in a box, and use them for quick, down and dirty new painting techniques, or to hand off to new people who are nervous about experimenting on their 'good' troops. Or… they get carved into bits for other stuff. Frankensteins.

If worth they are really that much of an odds and end, I post them here "Free, just pay postage." Failing that I toss them in with the recycling.

Ottoathome02 Jul 2014 8:46 a.m. PST

I draft them.

they get used in other games, other collections by a little converting and a little hiding behind the scenes. But reember, I do Imagi-Nations.

So how did I manage to use up

six spare Zulu figures

a half dozen Ming Crossbowman

Four female pirate figures

A handful of romans

six Arab spearmen from the Middle Ages

A handful of left over Turkish Jannisaries from a unit in my Renaissance Game

A few ACW 28mm someone gave me.

A few Medieval figures.

A few Japanese Samurai.

Simple, a little body putty, a litte carving, a little feathers and flitter here and there and they all ended up as Artillery crew.

You see, I do imagi-nations and in the Imagi-nation of Princess Trixie of Sax-Burlap und Schleswig Beerstein each infantry regiment has a regimental gun. This gun is actually WORTHLESS in combat, being nothing more than a baby-howitzer which has NO combat power. In the back story this is simply accomodated as each regiment using this gun almost exclusivelly to shoot off fireworks at the Princess' Birthday, Christmas, new Years, Oktoborfest, Carnical, Easter and various other high holy days. (The Princess a 17 year old Ingenue-- Think Gidget goest to Schonbrunn!) Anyway the colonels of the regiment have developed a great rivalry over this and the costume ball associated with these events and have ruinous ocmpetition to see who can come up with the most outlandish, swankiest, and expensive gala costumes for the gunners to shoot off the entertainment in. So it's like the Mummers day parade.

Oh yes, I'm working on the bands for each of these to match.

If you're not up for that, then simply using them as bits of scenery and wagon train guards etc.

the fun part is waiting till the gamers get the joke, like the American Civil War gun Crew and the all-girl amazon one.

Of course there are whole units of anacronisms. For example for a principality in Germany (pretty much all of Germany except Prussia, hanover and a few others) in the 17th century the regiment of Mohawks (The Mackattack Indians) does not get them as much as the other side in the Kingdom of Bad Zu Wurst, made up of Japanes Samurai. Engraged by the depredations of the Makattacks (who used to do dastardly things like infiltrate the camp of Faustus the Great of Bad Zu Wurst and light up a bag of dog poop outside the front of his tent, Faustus hired the Japanese to combat them. Then found out they were no good at all for that, and kept them on to protect his whippets from being hunted and eaten by the McMacattacks as another joke. Unfortunately Faustus does not know that the Japanese hate the little curs and sell them to the Makattacks.

Imagi-nations are great.
