I thought that was already a copy righted name for a game by another company. Well the game must be really old or I was mistaken. I could not find it with my latest search other than a free on line system.

Sparker27 Jun 2014 3:37 p.m. PST

Yes excited about these!

Wargamer Blue27 Jun 2014 4:13 p.m. PST

Looks good.

brunet28 Jun 2014 2:41 a.m. PST

So I better stick to my 20mm tanks instead of going 28mil?

You can't copyright a title.

How big is the table? 4*6 seems small for any tank platoon battle for bolt action.

BigNickR29 Jun 2014 10:09 a.m. PST

not if you're used to FoW tank battles

John Secker29 Jun 2014 4:31 p.m. PST

Yes, if your tank barrel isn't actually touching your target, you're at long range.

cbaxter02 Jul 2014 8:39 p.m. PST

we did a big tank battle using bolt action and 15mm tanks on a 5 x 8 foot table and it worked great

mashrewba03 Jul 2014 11:13 a.m. PST

Is this like Bolt Action Armageddon!!!?

FatherLucant20 Jul 2014 5:45 p.m. PST

I don't know, to me, 28mm tank battles on a 6x4 just seem like it would be really cramped.

richinq15 Sep 2014 11:31 p.m. PST

I use 10mm using cm's on a 4' * 4' table and played kursk with 16 soviet tanks against 12 german tanks with BA. and it played great.

wondering if tank war will add much as far as rules go?

IIRC there are no new rules at all, just new formations that support having more vehicles on the table.

It shouldn't matter if the online game is free. Think about it being the other way around. A free online game calls itself 'Flames of War'. Do you think the folks at FOW will ignore that because it is just a free online game? I don't think so.

I agree. In the U.S. as a general rule, the game tables are 4x8 and even on that, when your talking '28mm" scale Tanks, thats going to take up a lot of space, even if only platoon vs. platoon skirmish.

Ive read a cpl of AAR's, the tanks look great at this scale, but the setting is a bit 'silly' to see tanks practically 'nose to nose' and its only considered close range.

Personally, I think Bolt Action Tank War was "made for" the 1/100 scale – 15mm armor. And it seems The PSC are coming out with more every day.

bought the book all i can say is..what a load of todge all hype for nothing

Thomas Thomas22 Jun 2015 12:47 p.m. PST

If you want more detail than 15mm but don't want to use 1/56 to 1/48 scale monsters try 20mm.

Great detail, tank commander figures have more personality than 15mm (Brad Pitt!). You can even get lots of pre-painted stuff.

That's pretty much been the general comment by the few I have talked to that did buy BA's Tank War rule book.
Other than perhaps some additonal vehicle stats, the general opinion was:

"IF you have the Bolt Action rule book, then you have "Tank War". There wasn't really anything 'new' to it."

After all, in the 1st Ed., they provided the info needed to run much of the most common armor used in the BA skirmish game.
However now that they have done BA 2nd Ed., they 'may' have added more stats to the vehicle secton (Ive yet to get 2nd Ed).
The majority of 'Tank War' AAR's I have read, by and large the tanks ARE the infantry, its usually simple games of armor vs. armor.

It's the only WWII tank game being sold at the hobby store near me.
