Hi, I am about to start painting Hessian's for the American Revolution and there are a fair few converged Grenadier Battalions, so how should I paint these full companies of each and the command stand from the senior battalion or just mix them trough one an other? which doesn't seem right cheers jon |

The companies should be based separately in that is your basing schema. And the "senior" battalion's company may not be the one providing the converged battalion commander. That depended on who was the actual senior officer from all of the companies. Jim |

Yup. Personally, I always try to 'dress' the companies from the more Senior regiments from the right. Kev |

For my converged grenadiers I have them in stands of four figs (28mm), all four with the same facings (separate companies) |

Exactly. It's easy to find out which converged grenadier battalion had companies from which regiment. Then paint the companies accordingly. |

@winston smith, i know what companies come from what parent battalion what i was wondering was how to paint these, did they get mixed and matched into new ad hoc companies (which i figured wasn't the case) or they remained in there own companies (which turns out to be the case) and the second part of my question was who provides the command element of the "new" regiment, i had assumed it was the company from senior battalion, turns out the individual officers seniority takes precedence over battalion seniority. jon |

When I was doing SYW Prussian converged grenadiers I used two bases of six (15mm) to get companies from both battalions of each regiment. 4 ORs, officer and musician from the senior regiment and 6 ORs from the junior member or add a musician for variety.

The commanding officer would not have been a grenadier, seeing how they only went to captain (company) – unless from one of thsoe funky grenadier regiments. Then they probably commanded their own men. Same for Brit converged grenadier battalions. |

It would have been so considerate of generals to form their converged grenadier battlaions of companies wit the same facing colour, lace, cap metal, etc. Would have made life so much easier for future wargamers! |
