So I just finished watching the first episode of "The Last Ship" on TNT, seems it will be on Sunday nights. Thanks to earlier recording The premises of the show is Navy ship out at sea under radio silent during a global pandemic, with a research doctor from the CDC, when they get the word that 80% of the world is infected. Looks like some real gaming potential Anyone else's thought on it? |

I like the concept. It's based on a novel -I think- from the 70s or 80s, although the premise has been changed from a nuclear fallout to a global pandemic. My problem with the pilot is that the narrative felt somewhat disjointed, and some performances were wooden -come on! The XO just learnt that his boy has died from the disease and he reacts with such lack of emotion that it was like he was talking about missing a soccer game due to the weather!-. I hope that it will improve in follow up episodes. |

Not one fat sailor!? And what's up with the two sailors made up to look like Marines? |

The modern Navy is lean and mean. Marines have traditionally been posted on larger vessels. The Marine detachment is there to guard the Doc, which should have tipped off the Captain that his mission was really about something else. Not near as bad as I anticipated. Still can't wrap my head about the Navy camouflage uniforms. It was nice to see some of the crew in blue. |

Yes, I noted some of those "inaccuracies"
again it's on TV
so
But regardless, it was somewhat predictable in many cases. I'll probably watch a few more episodes and hold off in total jugdement. It's still much better than TWD ! And the CPT needs a hair cut, with that swirly hair ! |

I enjoyed it. It was better than I thought it would be. I will watch it again, it's staying in the DVR lineup. However, I'm really not sure where they can go, other than finding the cure. Seems like they will run out of story pretty quick, seeing how they condensed the trip home to about 30 seconds. Xin |

Xin The doctor said that the virus could have been weaponised. I believe that can be the season's plot, besides finding a cure. Also, the doctor's adjutant looks it is a Russian mole, which can play as another plotline too. Well, we'll see. |

Saw a spot promoting it and from that determined I would not watch it. Oh made me change the station as well so that I did not have to watch it. |

Okay, so it's been a few years since I started this post and all I have to say is I like the show, sure it has it's moments but hey it's a show! For entertainment it great and has giving me idea for gaming! A. I want to build a destroyer in 15mm range and couple of other ships and boats. B. I want to make a couple of terrain items that can work for a port or wharf, and beach terrain and a section with a stream opening to more open water. So anyone have any other ideas? Or gaming thoughts? |
