I'm looking at setting up a small game with Gaslight, to introduce it to my local club. Tee problem I have is that so far I only have 1 10-man unit for each side, plus some officers.

For a game like this, is there any reason why we shouldn't use a D10/2 for morale instead ?

Guthroth-
If you only have about 12- 15 figures a side for your game, depending in how many players you expect to have, I would consider giving each player 3 to 4 Main Charcters to play with, rather than try to incorporate a single unit.

I'm not sure what benefit you'd gain from using a d10/2 with a ten man unit, except it would make the unit failing morale much more unlikely. But maybe that's your goal. You could use a straight d10 to replace the d20/2 the rules recommend.

And if you haven't done so already, b sure to check out the GASLIGHT website for free downloads and assorted info:

Thanks Chris, that was the idea.

I can currently manage 2 x 6(5+1) units plus a steam tank for one side, and 2 x 6(5+1) regulars, and 1 x 11 (10+1) Native for the other. Both sides would have a CiC as well.

There could also be complications from a '3rd Force'.

The idea is to give it a try before investing in lots of figures.

Personally, I have found Gaslight to be one of the best sets ever written. They are very flexible! I think you should have fun.

Gunroth-
Consider going with 2 unattached Main Characters, 2 five-man units, and 1 steam tank for one side; and 3 unattached Main Characters, 2 five-man units, and 1 ten-man unit for the other side.
Then use a d10 straight up for the morale of the 10 man unit, and the d10/2 for the 5 man units.

The 5-man units I would make up as 1 commanding Main Character and 4 Extras. The 10 man unit I would make up as 1 commanding Main Character, 1 second-in-command Main Character and 8 Extras.

Make sure the side without the steam tank has some kind of weapon(s) that are capable of damaging the vehicle.

Thanks, John, for the great comments!
