I've been in discussions with Both Zac and Kirk – the chaps behind this thread TMP link and this one TMP link
I've also been speaking to Tony at Brigade about the mercenary forces that these designs are all planned for and Keith at Armies Army about some suitable figures (specifically his PLA TMP link )
On that basis, and because the gents involved have been very helpful and supplied shots of figures and side views of AFVs for me to add some signage to and so forth, here's a new force using the vehicles that – I hope – will be releaased as soon as possible, accompanying the Shaman, already out – as we know – from Brigade. image In 329TW, the planetary governments of Hiroseke and Stewart, re-ignited their feud on Kalan, an iridium- mining colony they had founded together decades before hand, and over which they had already fought one bitter struggle. Japanese and Scots were again in open warfare over production rights and were shooting at each other for another five years
link These – and their opponents, which will be using Brigades new Brit AFVs (which I'm spraying on now) – are taken from the Slammers books (albeit in a bit of a passing mention) and hopefully this will just add some 'welly' to them coming into production. I look forward to seeing them.
I think not all of the vehicles that the guys have designed will make it to the casting but – hopefully – the vast majority will. If any drop off, I'll adjust the Detachment Sheet accordingly. PDF link The HNA forces use the Supplement 4 Troop Classification of Commissars and thr Elite Skill of Communications Tech with their splendid C3 systems.
Thanks go to MangoTwee Mech-Werks LTD for the designs and Keith Armstrong for the PLA pics. Hopefully I can get some decals made for them as well. John Treadaway hammers-slammers.com |

Very well put together John, that was a thoroughly enjoyable little read and if you ever reprint 'The Crucible' with all the army factions in it i think you would probably have a best seller on your hands, not to mention a substantial door stop. ;) At the moment the only tank that might not make it into production is the 'Legion 2' its been decided that one MLRS system is enough for the range, however there might be another Sohei variant to replace it basically using the twin Rail guns from the Warlord to create a direct fire long range tank but its early day on this concept even if i have given it the working name 'Oni' Japanese folklore depictions of Oni usually portray them as gigantic ogre-like creatures with sharp claws, wild hair, and two long horns growing from their heads, which i thought was appropriate due to useing the twin Rail guns for a possible new Sohei variant. I am also looking forward to seeing these designs reach it to the production stage so that i can also get my grubby little paws on them

Thanks Zac I want to build even more interest in what you're doing. Like I said, I'll fiddle with it when concept becomes reality. Meanwhile, back to spraying brits! John T |

Suteki!!! Really awesome looking new force! I don't currently have a copy of The Crucible, but I'm seriously considering getting the game. Can't wait to see the Stewart army. Maj. Diz Aster FIREBASE ARES 15

Major, The Brits on the piece about stowage TMP link are what I'm working on for them.
Nice models from Brigade. I'm looking forward to doing the same sort of interesting force: as they have towed weapons in the British force link I shall certainly be using those, though they need a track to lug them around. Might consider them buying in a Kunitsa :) link becasue if that doesn't shout FV432 I don't know what does

Those are nice models. Brigade has always been one of my favorite manufacturers, and they continue to get better and better. I agree with getting the Kunitsa to tow the artillery It definitely screams FV432 |

I think the Laska tankette would make a cool looking high mobility light weight tractor to toe artillery pieces around, plus it has a couple of alternative hatch mounted weapons or as in the photo below a targeting system.

Can any of these be used for 20mm? Really wish these stores would put up miniatures with actual measurements. |
John Treadaway | 22 Jun 2014 10:37 p.m. PST |
Augustus The reality is that most of these vehicles could be used for 1/72. In actuality an Ainsty Slammers Blower tank is around 11cm long. In your SF world, big tanks dont have to be 11 metres long: if you think they're only 8m or so long (about the size of an Abrams or Challenger) – and if the hatches on the models are big enough (which they just about are) – then use them with abandon! Hey John! How about letting Marcin from O8 do them in 3mm
? |
John Treadaway | 23 Jun 2014 2:08 a.m. PST |
Not my call, Zakalwe64. I'm just doing fluff and using other people's designs for vehicles to fit into the background. John T |

Those vehicles are too cool for the Chinese but I like what you came up with. I've envisioned the Chinese in the Slammerverse for a long time. It will be truly awesome to see this come to fruition. |

Those vehicles are too cool for the Chinese Well, Japanese, actually In 329TW, the planetary governments of Hiroseke and Stewart, re-ignited their feud on Kalan, an iridium- mining colony they had founded together decades before hand, and over which they had already fought one bitter struggle. Japanese and Scots were again in open warfare over production rights and were shooting at each other for another five years
