Will be releasing these when the store reopens --
15mm. About half have firearms, but the others are usable in any time period. The painter thought having a few in other colours would be eye catching. Arigato! |
Sobieski | 20 Jun 2014 5:52 a.m. PST |
The painter needs to give some thought to what a ninja's job was. Or consider a brain transplant. |
khurasanminiatures | 20 Jun 2014 6:09 a.m. PST |
These are just little bits of metal, they're not doing anything other than looking good on a tabletop. The painter can keep his brain I reckon. |
Armiesarmy | 20 Jun 2014 6:53 a.m. PST |
Or keep them to the appropriate board
:) |
Gunner Dunbar | 20 Jun 2014 6:55 a.m. PST |
very nice, reminds my of all the cheesy Ninja movies from when I was a kid, with different coloured ninjas. |
PygmaelionAgain | 20 Jun 2014 6:56 a.m. PST |
If the painter did that, the photographer wouldn't have anything to photograph. Of course, the only images of ninjas were of the ones who became visible. Nobody has ever seen the very best ninja. Think about it. |
boy wundyr x | 20 Jun 2014 7:02 a.m. PST |
They would also work well for the orcs in the Monster Hunter International setting
which is what I'll be using them for. |
Battle Phlox | 20 Jun 2014 7:03 a.m. PST |
Ninjas can were neon colors and still be invisible. They are Ninjas after all. Sheesh, everybody knows that. |
Soldado | 20 Jun 2014 7:21 a.m. PST |
Ninjas sneaking into an emperors palace in the middle of the night.. Dark green clothing spot on. Ninjas infiltrating a gang leaders hideout during mardi-gras? The dark green/ grey might not work so well. Its all about blending in with your current environment. Neon ninjas? now I know what those flashes are in my peripheral vision! Lovely models Khurasan |
khurasanminiatures | 20 Jun 2014 7:21 a.m. PST |
Or keep them to the appropriate board
:) Ah, the ninjas forum? Strange how selectively this complaint is made
. |
Antonius Block | 20 Jun 2014 7:25 a.m. PST |
The miniatures look great. Great colours and paint job as well. 'Adult non-mutant ninja humans' sounds like a good name for band btw. |
badger22 | 20 Jun 2014 7:54 a.m. PST |
And when is the store reopening? Owen |
Rodrick Campbell | 20 Jun 2014 8:13 a.m. PST |
I like red ninjas. White and blue and grey and black ninjas, too.

Pirates are more fun than Ninjas. |
Battle Phlox | 20 Jun 2014 8:31 a.m. PST |
"Pirates are more fun than Ninjas." True but Ninjas are more hygienic. |
RavenscraftCybernetics | 20 Jun 2014 8:39 a.m. PST |
those guys must be expert ninjas, they dont make any noise at all. |
ThorLongus | 20 Jun 2014 8:53 a.m. PST |
If we want to get technical, most ninjas were essentially spies, in the business of gathering intelligence, and as such would be represented on tabletop as a Japanese peasant or villager, or fieldworker
but that is not hollywood |

None in bright orange? I can't believe it! Also, which one leads, which one does machines, which one is crude but cool, and which one is a party dude? |

The criticisms that emerge on this site are astonishing. Yes, I am often floored by what people complain about on this site. -Will |

Very nice figs and very nice paint jobs AND I too am wondering what would be the 'appropriate' board to post these on. Anyway, they look sharp and I will be getting some for infiltration work in Hammer's Slammers. |
Augustus | 20 Jun 2014 11:53 a.m. PST |
I am floored by the amazements. Or amazed at the flooring? I can't remember. :) |

I believe it was QI (British TV Show) which alerted me to the fact that Ninjas never wore black clothing
not sure why. Edit
..all hail Youtube! YouTube link On the figures themselves, I like them and wouldn't mind a few for Sci-fi/Post Apoc' games. |

The idea of black clad ninja comes from bunraku plays
. Basically a marionette being manipulated by black clad head to toe actor. |

Didn't we spray for Ninjas last week? Must be the cold bringing them out. |
Beneath A Lead Mountain | 26 Jun 2014 8:40 a.m. PST |
As a student of Hatsumi I approve of these chaps, Purple is our chosen colour generally (harder to see at night) but when I buy them and paint them they'll be a nice range of colours. Only issue (and it's small) is the swords look closer to chinese dao than ninjato (tip needs to be clipped not rounded) although we are supposed to be able to use whatever comes to hand. Such a small niggle I will remedy it with clippers and a file. Oh and some of the stances are impractical, but only if you are an actual bujinkan practitioner and not a little metal man. Cool stuff, please keep it up. |
craigjwoodfield | 27 Jun 2014 3:31 p.m. PST |
'Ninjato' is a 20th century fiction just like 'ninjutsu' and most other things to do with ninja. But they are nice figures. Cheers CW |
Carlos13th | 27 Jun 2014 4:25 p.m. PST |
Ninjato are not really a thing. Also there is no real proof that Bujinkan have any historical connection with Ninja at all. Nice miniatures though. |

The idea of black clad ninja comes from bunraku plays
. Basically a marionette being manipulated by black clad head to toe actor. Kabuki plays, too. Stagehands wore black head to toe, and the audience pretended to not see them, so when an actor was attacked by a stagehand suddenly drawing a weapon, the audience was shocked. |
Beneath A Lead Mountain | 28 Jun 2014 9:49 a.m. PST |
Sorry, wasn't using ninjato in the modern sense of "short straight sword made to be sold to everyday lunatics by numerous replica companies", I meant literally the 'sword of the ninja' (and had just presumed that's what they were going for) which would have most probably had a clipped tip (as is most common with japanese blades) and some of these look more like a dao to me. They also have uzi's and they're definitely a 20th century invention. I wasn't claiming any direct lineage or link (as no-one can really know/and this is a site about little lead men) just saying as a student of a potentially comparable path and using my own frame of reference, apologies for any misconceptions. I obviously need to practice being silent more :) |

Thanks Carlos13th, I almost said that but was too polite. I almost used the term 'hokum' as well, but was too polite. Cheers CW |
