Here's my second Sherman from Hobbyboss

picture
I've got into adding crew members after my last Panther, it seems to add that bit extra to vehicles. Stowage is a mix of homemade and bits from the Tamiya jerry can set (1/48) so thanks for looking, feedback always welcome
Cheers for now Russ

That looks really good!

What kind of track assembly did this one come with? I tried a couple of their T-34s and the track assembly was just way too fiddly, even with the supplied jig (at least I remember those as being Hobbyboss--maybe they were some other Chinese company).

Thanks Katzbagler, the tracks are rubber so its so much easier than the plastic T34s tracks. They make the build a much quicker and much more straight forward. The running gear was the worse part of it all, but providing you paint it before you assembly it doesn't cause any major problems.

Nice work.

Very nicely done. I think I'll have to get an M4/76 for my Soviet force soon. Nice job on the stowage.

The figure and the tank are beautifully done. Wish I could do as well.

Don't take offence at the following, please, but they don't go together – the figure is 28mm, right? Again, you've done a great painting job, but it's just hilariously small compared to the tank, not to mention having a face like a sad long faced cartoon dog. I still think you did a great job on the figure, such as it is.

Wargamer here…FAN-bloody-TASTIC!

Lovely work. Could have a bit more dust and mud on the tracks and rollers.

Thanks Robby, the stowage really seams to help make the model, same as the crewman. It gives a chance to make each model individual. My Russians arnt being neglected! I'm still plodding on

Debbie, thanks for the kind comments about my painting skills. No offense taken by your comments. I think the 1/48 – 28mm debate is a on going debate! The crewman is a warlords metal figure, so I suppose he was scaled to fit one of the warlord vehicles, and he does seem slightly smaller than the plastics. At the end of the day its personal choice, but thanks for the feedback its all welcome.

Thanks sillypoint, I'm kind of pleased with the end result.

wrgmr1, I may have to add abit more dust and dirt, I've not added paint chips or rust so that's a option going forward.

So thanks everyone for all the feedback, its all welcome
Thanks again Russ

archiduque and Matsuru Sami Kaze thank you both for your kind words. The stowage really seems to make the difference

BelgianRay21 Jun 2014 11:28 a.m. PST

Very nice work, and not all vehicles need plenty of mud. I find the crewman in excellent proportion.

Thanks BelgianRay, I'm kind of chuffed with the results!

FireZouave22 Jun 2014 7:20 a.m. PST

Beautiful job! And I'm with you on the 28mm figure/vehicle debate. The figure looks fine to me. I think Debbie Downer is just used to seeing an oversized dwarf in her vehicles. No offense, Debbie. It's just a personal preference!

bracken Supporting Member of TMP22 Jun 2014 10:45 a.m. PST

Thanks FireZouave, I reckon the 1/48 scale is purely a personal thing but I'm more than happy to carry on with it! I've got a warlord 1/56 hanomag but it seems a bit on the small side, but I suppose its a case of what your happy with as a individual! So thanks for looking, thanks for all the feedback
Cheers for now Russ

The figure "it's just hilariously small compared to the tank"
On the contrary Debbie, long face withstanding the figure looks about the right to me. Try comparing it to a picture of a real Sherman instead of a model with an over scaled commander standing in the turret.
