Okay I'm Catholic…and over the centuries various nationalities have come up with very creative ways of celebrating certain Saints lives…my family just love it…

Well it made me think when I noticed the "Happy Waterloo Thread" …How should you celebrate "Waterloo Day"

Be creative, some silly suggestions:

Farmhouse Cake…there's 6 soldiers inside…3 blue french and 3 red british (or what ever)…whichever side has its 3 soldiers found first wins the farmhouse or a surprise

von Blücher Blitz: Invite a German friend to the celebration but he has to arrive late…

Grouchy Coochy Coo: Send 1/3 of the party to look for the German Guest then text them not to come back

See how much water they can drink before having to run to the loo…Substitute water with something stronger perhaps…

Small Frog Cakes? (This thread is going to get me in Hot Water)

Scare the heck out of French tourists by riding at them on a big grey horse while yelling "Scotland Forever?"

nickinsomerset18 Jun 2014 8:44 a.m. PST

Tally Ho!

A marathon viewing of the "Sharpe's" series? Marvel at Sean Bean actually surviving past the first season/episode. ;)

kallman18 Jun 2014 8:50 a.m. PST

NWMike I really like that one. However have to say after the first three shows the plot becomes rather thin.

It's my birthday. I celebrate it and the Emperor with his favorite wine, Chambertin-Clos de Beze Cote de Nuits Burgundy for all the great entertainment he and his battles provided this gamer.

Verbally brow beat a Frenchman.

Force feed some frenchies with steak and kidney pie with mushy peas, washed down with a pint of real ale. Do all this while showing them a world map of spoken languages.

War Panda18 Jun 2014 12:18 p.m. PST

BC1745 not sure the wife would approve…but I do sense you're just taking the mick…

Happy Birthday Bob…enjoy that Burgundy :)

There has to be something we could do with wellingtons (rubber boots for those who are not familiar with this term…my Canadian friends had never heard of the term) and please only wholesome suggestions…yes bc1745 I'm talking to you ;)

Perhaps drinking that Burgundy out of a Wellie? Perhaps not

bc174518 Jun 2014 12:33 p.m. PST

Moi?

It's a recognised approach to diplomacy ….. See Braveheart…. ;-)

Seriously …. Serve German wine and English Champagne at a dinner for the French ambassador……. Along with some of the dishes from above….

John the OFM18 Jun 2014 1:11 p.m. PST

bc1745 do you have any troops in regular poses?

If not your battles must look hilarious :)

bc174518 Jun 2014 1:59 p.m. PST

I have a lot of troops in serious poses……too many if you ask SWMBO

However in house rules for those Highlanders….

…….give attacking French columns a minus D6 on the moral check if these guys are deployed against them prior to first round of melee, use once per game……can only be deployed if you have a Bttn of Highlanders

The other guys……

Any french column must role a D6 when coming in medium range… Less than a 3 ….. They don't know their history and plod on… 3 or more….remember Agincourt…..+1 in next round of melee

Who said wargaming can't be fun……it's a game!!!

bc174518 Jun 2014 2:01 p.m. PST

Just for you Warpanda

War Panda18 Jun 2014 2:17 p.m. PST

LoL…I love the specialist rules…absolutely agree its all about having fun and who is to say adding that kind of character isn't adding realism anyway (I know which way I'd be running if I saw a few thousand Highlanders make that particular salute at me :)

…and BTW absolutely beautiful minis (and scenery too by the looks of things in the background) thumbs up

bc174518 Jun 2014 2:27 p.m. PST

Must admit scenery is from my mate at Last Valley…. But the brush work is mine…. In the next few months there will be a lot of stuff for my 200 years Waterloo project…..

Love the topic by the way……

Robert Burke18 Jun 2014 2:55 p.m. PST

Beef Wellington with a Napoleon for dessert.

bc174518 Jun 2014 3:14 p.m. PST

I spent it having a tooth pulled out… It seemed strangely appropriate.
