I'm collecting forces and scenery for some Germany East Front 1945 gaming, using the Chain of Command rules.

I intend to field the German side as few quality units backed up by Volkssturm.

I have a no. of the old Bolt Action Volkssturm and partisans, but would like to have more variety. I'm aware of the different alternative solutions, such as the SCW and VBCW, but most of these have very unlikely weapons for Volkssturm.

Anyone aware of good quality augmenties for the old Paul Hicks sculpts?

Also, I really wonder why no-one makes a plastic set of civilians suitable for this period, with SCW/VBCW/WWII ect. being as popular as they are… Could fill the role of refugees, locals, partisans, militias and a host of other…

Anyone having any thoughts on plastic civilians? (Warlords/WGF ;-))

You might take a look at the Musketeer Minis figures for VBCW and IWI. They have a variety of weapons, so could be passed off as Volkstrum. They are I believe Paul Hicks sculpts.

Londonplod – Love those Great escape Figs. I don't know if you can still get them but Cannon Fodder Miniatures (now defunct) made some nice inter-war Germans. I have a number of them as Volkstrum.

Katiel, that's a great list, but aren't Steve Barber models 20mm?

If I was you I would have a look at Tsuba Miniatures as they are doing a German Civil War range which is sculpted by Paul Hicks and fit into Musketeers range wonderful.

It amazing me too that there are no armed civilians box set in plastics and would love to see them

SB's are small 28s. I have some of the prohibition figures for my wild west town and they fit with (for example) old Foundry sculpts.

The Warlord "Defenders of Berlin" and Great Escape Games Hitler Youth and BDM figures are very good.

Not exactly what you are after, but Copplestone Back of Beyond Partisans with their dated clothing & rifles are ideal for rural/peasant Russian militia/partisans – I field mine as either Sov or Kaminski Brigade
