Fresh off the painting conveyor belt is my new British Battalion, my home county of Cheshire, buff facing and belts.

Very nice! I'm currently in the middle of painting my 10th Regt. of foot. Thanks for the inspiration.

You mentioned you were doing other units – what are they, the Rhode Island garrison? If so, that's a nice little army as they kept their flank companies with them and had some useful Germans in tow.

Ken,

Splendid stuff – and a regiment high on my list having served in it albeit some years later. Do you have a source for the dark grey overalls?

Thanks,

Jon

Very nice. I bought a box of these at Salute and your pictures have certainly increased my anticipation.

The GMB flags look very good too; colouring the white edges, as you've done, makes a world of difference to the final appearance.

Cheers for the comments guys,

Jon the trousers are dark blue grey (vallejo 70898 dark sea blue) winter trousers, bit lazy with the source, its from the uniform guide in the Perry Miniatures plastic box set. Brendan Morrisey put the guide together so I'm guessing its right. I wasnt aware of this colour trouser in the AWI until I saw this, I know that Brendan has done a lot of new research so it may have come from this. I have used a "theme" for each of my brigades to make them more recognisable on the table. 1st Brigade white trousers red plume, 2nd white and white, 3rd Hats and blue grey trousers, 4th will be brown woollen trousers.

Supercilious, my army is following the Brandywine orbat, these will go in the 2nd Brigade on the right wing under Grant. The brigade will consist of the 5th, 27th, 40th and 55th Foot, it should have the 10th Foot as well, however I have cheated a bit and replaced them with "my" Regt. It my home county and all my British Armies have a Cheshire Regt in them so the 10th were sacrificed. The 5th Foot have been done and have their own page on my blog.

Hope that helps, Ken

Very nice,

How did you achieve the effect on the bases?

Brian Smaller17 Jun 2014 10:52 a.m. PST

Wonderful. Love the lichen/moss effect on the bases.

ironicon17 Jun 2014 10:58 a.m. PST

You sacrificed my 10th!

Thanks, Ken, that's good enough for me.

Cheers again guys,

ironicon, sorry dude someone had to make way for the mighty Cheshires !

FirstBrigade, the bases are MDF, I glue the figs on and then texture the base with filler covering up the figure base. I then paint the base earth brown and dry brush with a light sand. Next up I use patches of green Basetex (basically a fine sand paint mix from Colour Party Paints in the UK) which is highlighted yellow. Bases are finshed off with various grass tufts.

Yes, being a Cheshire cat myself, I too did my 28mm crusader 7 years war figures as His Majesties' 22nd regiment of foot, the Cheshires!
Nice work there!
