After much blood, sweat and tears (or caffeine, beer and heavy metal more like it), Five Men in Normandy is available for sale.

A skirmish war game for WW2 battles. Playable with any miniatures already in your colletion though better suited for 15mm and up.

If you have been on the look out for a skirmish game that gives you plenty to work with, which gives you a fully featured world war 2 campaign experience from the perspective of a small "band of brothers",

which gives you tools with which to create interesting missions and captivating scenarios

which presents unpredictable situations and characters, keeping each campaign and each battle fresh and interesting
then Five Men in Normandy is the game for you.

*****

The rules provide the following content:
*Comprehensive skirmish rules, including rules for searching, patrol and stealth missions, reaction fire, mortar support, a task system for unforeseen events and persuasion rules.

*Advice and rules to assist solo gamers included.

*Weapon and equipment lists

*Force tables to randomly generate a quick group of soldiers. Nationalities covered are British and Commonwealth, Americans, Soviets, Germans, Finland, Free French, Free Polish and Italians.

*Character creation system to add that extra flavour to your campaign. Includes motivations, backgrounds and prior experience as well as a skill system.

*Full featured campaign rules that link your battles together, include random events, injuries and court martials, non player characters and unforeseen circumstances.

*Squad based morale system in the campaign that is influenced by your progress and success, the personality of your men and events that happen.

*****

The rules are quick to play, use a creative dice based system to quickly resolve fire and moves through turns very quickly. The turn sequence has unexpected moments permitting players to take advantage of a situation as it develops or forcing them to react on their feet when something goes awry.

While larger forces are possible, the typical game involves only a handful of soldiers on each side, allowing you to focus on the personalities you have generated in your campaign.

Pick up games can be played quickly and efficiently as well. Simply roll up two forces, pick a mission and have a go at it.

Rules are 14.99 and available at

(And yes, they do include an index)

Looks like we have a nice start. If we get to 30 sales, I'll give you all some free weather rules :)

From one of the buyers

"Had a go at creating a squad this morning (actually ended up with seven men in Normandy!), particularly like the inclusion of the background tables. Quickly my squad leader went from 'squad leader' to Lt Pelham, second son of a wealthy east coast family, sportsman and enthusiast if fast cars (and faster women). Who decided that rather than sit out the war managing daddy's factory, he'd prefer to jump out of perfectly good airplanes!

It's been a while since I've seen a set of rules that (a) make want to immediately grab some models and play, (b) look simple enough to make me think I can without lots of prep!"
