Yes, the Ignore feature will be restored.

It just needs to be rewritten to use fewer system resources. I already have a plan in mind, I just need time to implement and test.

Since I'm already busy running TMP, the work will have to take place on evenings or weekends. So if you want an exact date of when Ignore will return – sorry, I'll shoehorn it in as soon as I can, but I don't have a solid date for you.

I had hoped to do it today but, as you can see, that didn't happen…

Thanks, that's great. Appreciate the update.

And I also acknowledge the extra effort involved for you. But hopefully once its in, it should then free up some time for you by preventing at least some of the rancour you have to spend time sorting out.

Many thanks.

You should hire some people to help.

How busy can you be with all those assistants?

Thanks for the update. The 400 post front page is good but the Ignore is GREAT.

Sorry this is making so much work for you,I hope its easier than you expected!

I am sure that we all learnt how to ignore at school. But still an this automated system for the less able is a wonderful idea.

Thanks Bill

Broglie15 Jun 2014 12:56 p.m. PST

That is great news and I for one am looking forward to its introduction. The earlier the better.

Broglie15 Jun 2014 2:24 p.m. PST

I got one ignore and one stifle for making the above comment.

Ignore equals miss out on something that may of been of interest, same as stifle. If you want to ignore something then don't read it.

As above.

Ignore equals miss out on something that may of been of interest,

For very valid reasons (ie – their personal choice)some people are prepared to take that chance. I don't see why I or anyone else should deny them that choice.

When I have someone on Stifle I usually take them off to see if there is any change. Usually not. And that includes the chance they may have posted something interesting.

If anyone is interested, here is a script I wrote (javascript) to hide front page posts by a single member. It works by loading the jQuery library from Google, then locating and hiding the posts on the front page.

To use it:

1. Create a new bookmark in your browser's bookmark manager.
2. Copy the code below and paste as the URL for your new bookmark.
3. Change MEMBERNAME (at the end of the code) to the member name you wish to ignore on the front page.
4. Save your bookmark.
5. When you visit TMP, click your new bookmark, and within a second, it will hide all front page topics by the member you entered.
6. If you navigate away and then back to the front page, you'll have to click your bookmark again to re-hide topics by that member.

The code (this is one single, long line):

javascript:(function(a){if(!a.jQuery){var d=document,b=d.createElement('script');b.src='//ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1/jquery.min.js';d.getElementsByTagName('head')[0].appendChild(b)}})(this);(function(a){setTimeout(function(){$('span.forumwhom:contains('+a+')').parent().css('display','none');$('span.forumwhom:contains('+a+')').parent().prev().css('display','none');},1000);})('MEMBERNAME');

Ignore equals miss out on something that may of been of interest, same as stifle.

If there was even a remote possibility I would find it of interest, I wouldn't ignore it now would I?

Since I do, there isn't, so I can.
