I am new to 20mm gaming. I bought some PSC plastic British infantry and vehicles and would like to add metal support (PIAT, mortars…), crew and command miniatures.
Which 20mm metal minis would fit in best size-wise with PSC 1/72 ?

Not sure size wise but AB are the nicest 20mm WW2 figures, in my opinion. The British will be available again soon and you will be able to buy the support groups you want.

Revell makes another nice plastic set
second vote for AB
Fantassin
Figures armor artillery

AB are the finest WW II models in any scale so I would add my endorsement of them to the ones above. Wartime has some great Brits that would match up as well.

Dang, the Wartime site is STILL down, though. Sorry.

Size in 20mm is not as significant an issue as it is in 28mm. Most manufacturers do fit together. The only really odd combination would be the slimmest of SHQ or MMS together with the chubbiest of Britannia.Ones that say they are 1/76 rather than 20mm are ussually that much smaller. those that say they are 1/72 are – except for Italeri and Valiant which are nearer 30mm! AB are indeed excellent, but I for one, have no plans to buy them from Australia. Postage and likely Duty are killers. Fantassin are nearly as good, cheaper in the first place, and have national distributors.

I recommend Kellys Heroes from Grubby Tanks. By the way you can get AB figures from Fighting 15s now. Only SS, FJ and US at the moment though.

Look at HäT for British MG and Mortar team sets.

They also do various tank rider sets which come with tank crews, British is one of those.

Look at HäT for British MG and Mortar team sets. The MG set includes four PIATs.

Reiver for my money!

I second the HaT recommendation for MG and Mortar, including PIAT, ATR, Bren and Vickers, plus some nice crew poses.

zirrian06 Jul 2014 9:14 a.m. PST

HaT all the way. I wish they made some standard infantry tho.

Beaumap07 Jul 2014 6:44 a.m. PST

I have AB, HaT, Fantassin all together – and SHQ, FAA separate. kelly's Heroes are a good 'bridge' between the two sizes.

I put my vote in for Zvezda. Not metal but hard plastic. They are great for conversions.

They do a nice 2 pounder and mortar for the Brits at present.

have a look at my 1:72 prepainted stuff:

Here are some Para Germans using them for conversion:

Zvezda Brits are clearly early war (respirators in front, etc, etc) and are thus not very compatible with PSC Brits.

I am a converter so does not worry me.

Being hard plastic they are so easy to work with.
